Chart’nX: energy generator, main meter and submeter cards

Missing fields, Save grayed out, address already in use, Modbus configuration not found or inconsistent total: here are the checks to run on a meter card in the Chart’nX energy generator. For administrators and installers; first check the project and the dashboard name before making any change.

Why don’t the expected fields appear in the card?

Section titled “Why don’t the expected fields appear in the card?”
  • The card shows Enable to configure this meter: check that this meter should really be used, then turn on its switch. Do not enable it just to make a warning on another meter disappear.
  • The KNX fields have been replaced by Modbus Configuration: check Protocol and follow the main meters guide.
  • The total field no longer appears in three-phase: check Total. Sum L1+L2+L3 calculates this total from the phases; see Configure the phases.
  • Operations is missing: check the card. This composition choice applies to General meters - Total energy consumed in the energy generator.
  • A submeter is missing: clear Filter sub-meters…, then look for its card by name; see Manage submeters.

The button stays grayed out until the form has been modified, then as long as a required field is empty or invalid. Open the list of fields to correct, as described in Save the dashboard, then check the flagged items:

  • A name, an address, a measurement configuration or a unit is empty.
  • A Historical row was added without an address: fill it in correctly, or remove it if it was added by mistake.
  • Custom Factor is empty or equal to zero: have the appropriate factor confirmed; a non-zero number is required.
  • A source in the Overlays section is incomplete: complete it as described in the overlays.
  • The total energy calculation is empty, or uses a disabled, deleted or non-composable meter: correct the composition.
  • All meters are disabled and no submeter is added: the energy dashboard requires at least one measurement source, as stated by Enable at least one meter or add a sub-meter before saving.

Correct the input rather than disabling useful meters to work around the error.

What if an address is already used elsewhere?

Section titled “What if an address is already used elsewhere?”

Read the warning and check the meters or phases it mentions. A duplication may have copied the address of the original meter. Compare the measurement with the installation information, then correct only what is confirmed. If the same address must intentionally be used in several panels, or if you cannot establish the match, contact support before changing the configuration.

Why can’t I find the Modbus configuration?

Section titled “Why can’t I find the Modbus configuration?”

Check the project, the filter and the Active or Archived tab in the Modbus catalog. A card may offer Declare new configuration; then follow the Modbus form with the exact parameters of the device. If you don’t know them, ask the installer or support. Do not create several configurations to test registers at random.

Why does the result look wrong after saving?

Section titled “Why does the result look wrong after saving?”

Check the dashboard name, its period and precision, the units and the index or non-indexed mode.

Do not change the unit, the factor or the addresses just to obtain a number that seems plausible.

If the problem persists after these checks, write to support@can-nx.com with: the project, the dashboard, the meter, the symptom, the flagged field or the exact message, and the steps already taken.
