Sonos KNX integration with Link’nX

With Link’nX, a Sonos speaker can be controlled from the KNX bus and used in the installation’s scenarios: play, pause, tracks, volume, mute, Radio and Spotify favorites, speaker grouping. Its states (volume, mute, current track) can also be read back by the bus. This page sums up what the integration does and the commissioning order.

  1. Declare the speaker with a name and its IPv4 address.
  2. Map its commands and feedback to KNX group addresses, with the expected DPT for each row.
  3. Prepare the scenario actions and, if needed, the favorites to start.
  4. Add the actions to a scenario, then test each command on the speaker.

If something goes wrong, the Sonos troubleshooting guide answers the most common problems: speaker not found, missing favorites, KNX command with no effect, no status feedback.

  • KNX commands in DPT 1.001 are pulses at 1: the value 0 does not trigger the opposite command.
  • Volume is set in DPT 5.001 (0 to 100%) or by a signed offset in DPT 6.010; both commands unmute the sound.
  • Feedback answers a KNX read request. Texts in DPT 16.001 are limited to 14 bytes.
  • URL playback, favorite or group commands from the gateway table require a configuration set up with support.
