Play a Sonos favorite (radio, Spotify) from a Link’nX scenario

Link’nX web: Actions form, Sonos type, Play favorite command

In a Sonos action in Link’nX, the Play favorite command plays a favorite from the “My Sonos” list of the selected devices. Only Radio and Spotify favorites are offered.

Intended for installers and administrators who prepare an action of type Sonos.

  • The speakers are declared in Link’nX.
  • The desired favorite is already prepared in the Sonos app. This preparation depends on your equipment and your services: if it is not established, ask support for it.
  • The compatibility of all forms of Spotify favorites, in particular playlists and albums, is not established: have it confirmed by support before building a scenario on it.
  1. Start creating the Sonos action and enter its name.
  2. In Sonos device, select the relevant devices before choosing the favorite.
  3. In Sonos command, choose Play favorite.
  4. Open Favorite to start and choose the desired title among the favorites offered. The selection covers a single favorite. The screen states: Only Radio and Spotify favorites are currently supported and displayed!
  5. If you then change the device selection, review the title and the devices.
  6. Use the floppy disk at the bottom right and wait for Success!.
  7. If needed, add the action to the scenario.

Success! confirms that the action is saved. After the scenario runs, check that the speakers play the chosen favorite.

  • Favorite to start is disabled: select a device first. The tooltip says Select Sonos device before choosing a favorite.
  • Favorite list is currently empty… persists: check the device’s declaration and selection. This message is not enough to conclude that all its favorites have been deleted or that an audio service is unavailable.
  • The expected favorite is still missing, the list obtained after changing device cannot be confirmed, or playback fails after selection: contact support.
