Link’nX web: scenario creation form for the selected project and gateway
A Link’nX scenario brings together one or more triggers, optional conditions and a series of actions that control the installation’s equipment. Its form assembles items that are already prepared.
Intended for administrators and installers who configure the automations of the Link’nX context. To then set the order and delays of the actions, continue with the action organization guide.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- At least one trigger and one action are already configured for this project and this gateway.
- Conditions are optional; prepare them in advance too.
- A scenario’s settings can control equipment: use items whose function you know.
Open the form and name the scenario
Section titled “Open the form and name the scenario”- Open Scenarios in the navigation, then Add in the list bar. On a narrow screen, first open the side menu with the three-line button. The title Scenario creation appears.
- Fill in Name: it is required, must contain something other than spaces and cannot exceed 64 characters. Fictitious example: “Reception lighting morning”.
Choose the triggers
Section titled “Choose the triggers”- In Triggers, type part of a trigger’s name, then select its suggestion. Its name appears in a chip preceded by its type.
- Repeat to add others.
Triggers are combined with OR logic: any one of them is enough to request the scenario to start. The Remove cross on a chip removes that trigger from the scenario. At least one trigger must remain selected.
Add conditions
Section titled “Add conditions”In Conditions, select the already prepared rules that must apply: a Date condition, a Time condition, a Day/Night condition and, if necessary, several items in KNX condition. The --- option clears the choice in the first three fields; uncheck the KNX items to remove.
Selected conditions are combined with AND logic: they must all be met for an enabled scenario to start automatically. A condition never starts the scenario on its own: it is evaluated when a trigger requests the start.
Add the actions
Section titled “Add the actions”- In Actions, search for an action by its name or type, then select the suggestion.
- To use its configured value, leave Override value unchecked when it is offered.
- Click Add the action. A card bearing the action’s name appears in the list below. Choosing a suggestion without clicking this button is not enough. Repeat for the other actions.
- Check the order of the cards and their delays with the action organization guide. To keep each action’s configured value, leave the with the value field empty, with the by default hint.
To define a KNX value specific to one occurrence in the scenario, use Override value or with the value according to the related procedure.
Save the scenario
Section titled “Save the scenario”Click the round button with the floppy disk icon, at the bottom right, then follow the save checks. Before leaving a modified form, use the save choices described in that same guide.
A scenario created with Add is initially disabled. Once its configuration is ready, set its activation state in the list.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”- Reopen the scenario from the list and review its saved items.
- The Triggers detail, Conditions detail and Actions details buttons open the detail windows to view each item.
- A manual test of an action only tests that action. To validate the saved and enabled scenario, cause one of its triggers, watch the equipment, then check its start in the scenario history.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- A choice list seems empty: first clear the search text.
- A trigger is not offered: a trigger already present in the chips is not offered a second time.
- No suitable item exists yet in this context: prepare it in Triggers, Conditions or Actions, then return to the scenario.
If you cannot find the expected button or item after checking the context and the search, contact support@can-nx.com, indicating the product, the page, the item’s name and the step concerned, without sharing any access key.
