KNX air conditioning and heating with Link’nX: Daikin and Airzone
Link’nX connects two air-conditioning families to the KNX bus: Daikin units, declared by the IPv4 address of their Wi-Fi adapter, and Airzone zones, declared by the IPv4 address of their Airzone box. From a KNX button or a scenario, you control on and off, the mode (heat, cool, fan, dehumidification), the temperature setpoint, the fan speed and the slats. States and measurements can be read back on the bus.
Solutions for your need
Section titled “Solutions for your need”| Need | Application | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Declare a Daikin unit by the IPv4 address of its Wi-Fi adapter | Link’nX, Devices → Climate & Energy → Daikin | Declare Daikin, Gude or Atmoce |
| Control a Daikin unit from KNX and read back its mode, temperatures or humidity | Link’nX, Daikin gateway | Associate Daikin commands and feedback with KNX |
| Change the mode, the setpoint or a Daikin special mode in a scenario | Link’nX, Daikin actions | Prepare Daikin actions |
| Declare an Airzone box, find it on the network and choose the system and zone | Link’nX, Airzone list, Airzone box then Zone to control steps | Add an Airzone device and choose its zone |
| Control an Airzone zone from KNX group addresses | Link’nX, Airzone gateway, Actions tab | Map Airzone commands to KNX group addresses |
| Read the room temperature, setpoint, mode or humidity of an Airzone zone | Link’nX, second tab of the Airzone gateway | Associate Airzone status feedback |
| Control an Airzone zone in a scenario, with its setpoints and thresholds | Link’nX, Airzone actions | Control an Airzone zone from a scenario and fill in its values |
Then add the actions to a scenario. For a zone that cannot be found or an action with no effect, see the Airzone troubleshooting guide.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Both brands exchange the mode in DPT 20.105 with the same codes: 0 Auto, 1 Heat, 3 Cool, 6 Off, 9 Fan, 14 Dehumidification; Airzone adds 8 Auxiliary heat. Setpoints use DPT 9.001 and fan speed uses DPT 5.010.
- Setpoints: 10 to 32 °C in half-degree steps for Daikin; for Airzone, in Celsius, 15 to 30 °C (general or heating) and 18 to 30 °C (cooling).
- For a KNX object that distinguishes on and off by 1 and 0, use the Toggle row (Toggle device on or off for Airzone), DPT 1.001. Turn on and Turn off are named commands: do not rely on a write of 0 to cancel them.
- In a scenario, choose the mode and speed by their label: the KNX codes are not entered in the Actions form.
- Daikin special modes depend on the adapter: Streamer air purifier and Holiday mode on classic BRP069 adapters, Comfort mode and Outdoor unit quiet mode with firmware 2.8.0 or later.
- Modes, speeds, slats and ionization must exist on the hardware, and missing feedback does not mean zero. Test each command on the actual unit or zone.
Emergy’nX can also include heating or air conditioning in its energy management: see the Emergy’nX equipment types and Energy and metering.
