Somfy KNX integration with Link’nX: shutters and blinds

With Link’nX, the devices of a Somfy box, such as shutters, blinds or sensors, can be controlled from the KNX bus and used in the installation’s scenarios: open, close, stop, “my” position, closure, deployment or orientation setpoints. Their states can also start a scenario or be mapped to KNX group addresses. This page sums up what the integration does and the commissioning order.

  1. Declare the box with its local IP address, its port and its Developer-Mode token.
  2. Reopen the box with Edit to start discovery, then save the device list with the floppy disk: without this save, the devices are not offered in the other forms.
  3. Map the commands and states to KNX group addresses, checking the proposed DPT for each row.
  4. Prepare the Somfy actions and the triggers on a state, then add them to the scenario concerned.
  5. Test each command on the installation with the installer: a save does not prove a movement.
  • The port proposed for the box is 8443. The token is required and confidential; a Somfy account password does not replace it.
  • Open, Close, Stop and My position use DPT 1.001 and only react to the value 1. For a standard KNX shutter push button, use Up / down (KNX button) in DPT 1.008 (0 opens, 1 closes) and Stop (KNX step/stop button) in DPT 1.007, offered only in the gateway table. Closure, deployment and orientation setpoints use DPT 5.001, as a percentage from 0 to 100, including orientation, which is not expressed in degrees.
  • A position setpoint of 0 remains a setpoint: it does not replace the Stop command.
  • The states Closure, Deployment, Target closure and Slat orientation are proposed in DPT 5.001, Open / closed in DPT 1.009, Moving in DPT 1.001 and Status in DPT 1.002.
  • Commands and states share a single table, without separate tabs. The functions offered depend on the known capabilities of the discovered device.
