Somfy TaHoma in Link’nX: declare the box and discover its devices

Link’nXAdministratorInstaller

Link’nX web: Smart Home devices, Somfy, declaration of a TaHoma or Connexoon box

Declare a Somfy TaHoma or Connexoon box in Link’nX with its local IP address and its Developer-Mode token, then save the list of its discovered devices: shutters, blinds, sensors. These devices then become selectable in Somfy actions, Somfy triggers and the Somfy KNX gateway.

Intended for administrators and installers authorized to configure the gateway.

  • Note the box’s local IP address on the KNX gateway network and its port. Have them confirmed by the installer if needed.
  • Generate the box’s Developer-Mode token. The help (question mark) of this field explains how to enable Developer Mode and generate the token in the TaHoma by Somfy app. This mode does not exist on first-generation (square) TaHoma/Somfy boxes or on the Connectivity Kit. A Somfy account password does not replace this token.
  • Models, versions and vendor screens are not interchangeable: if the procedure is not known for your model and your app, ask support for it.
  • The token is confidential: enter it only in the dedicated form and hide it in any screenshot.
  1. Check the project and the gateway in the Link’nX header. In Devices, open Smart Home, then Somfy, or search for Somfy in Search a device…. On mobile, open the navigation first.
  2. If a padlock or an activation message appears, check the context and the Somfy option. For missing access, contact your distributor or support.
  3. Click Add to open Somfy box declaration.
  4. Fill in Name, required, 64 characters maximum. “Living room box” is a fictitious example.
  5. Fill in Box IP address, required, 128 characters maximum: the box’s local IP address. Enter the IP address rather than a host name: the gateway does not resolve .local names.
  6. Box PIN is optional, 64 characters maximum, in the form XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Its help explains where to read it in the TaHoma by Somfy app.
  7. Check Port, required and set to 8443 by default. Fill in Developer-Mode token, required.
  8. Click the round floppy disk at the bottom right and wait for Success!. The box appears in the list with its address and its port.

If the floppy disk is grayed out, a required field is empty: check Name, Box IP address, Port and Developer-Mode token.

  1. On the row of the saved box, click the Edit pencil. The search starts on its own in Box devices. When creating a box that has not yet been saved, Discover devices is disabled: save the box, then reopen it.
  2. Review the Name, Type, Sub-device URL and Status columns. Shutters, blinds or sensors are devices of this box, distinct from the declaration of the box itself.
  3. To run the search again, click Refresh and wait for its result.
  4. After a successful discovery, click the floppy disk to save the list. Wait for Updated!. A list merely displayed after discovery is not yet available to the other forms, and leaving the page does not prompt you to save it.
  5. Then open an action, a trigger or the Somfy KNX gateway and select the box: its saved devices are offered in Device.

In Box devices, Available and Offline describe the result of the last discovery, not a permanent status of the device. To confirm communication, test an actual command on a device. A discovery failure alone is not enough to conclude that the device is faulty.

Open the Edit pencil, correct the parameters and save with the floppy disk; wait for Updated!. If a confirmation appears when you leave the form, review the unsaved changes.

Before deleting the box, check its actions, triggers and KNX associations. Click its Delete trash can and review the name in the browser confirmation. Cancel to keep the box, or confirm, then check that it disappears after Deleted!. No button restores the declaration.

After a failure, the Saved list badge replaces the device status: the list shown is the last saved one and does not confirm that the devices are currently available. Keep the existing associations: deleting them does not resolve this message.

If you know the exact URL of a sub-device, the action, trigger and gateway forms offer ✎ Enter the URL manually…. Use only a confirmed URL of a device of this box; the box’s IP address does not replace it. This entry does not restore an unavailable connection.

A shutter visible in the declaration but missing from Actions was not saved with the list: save the declaration after discovery, then reopen the action form and select the right box.

If the problem persists, write to support@can-nx.com with Link’nX, the project and gateway concerned, the box model, the exact message with its code and the tests carried out. A screenshot of the list without the token or sensitive data can help. Never send the token.
