Somfy trigger: start a Link’nX scenario from a shutter status
Link’nXAdministratorInstaller
Link’nX web: Triggers form, Somfy type, for a declared box and its saved devices
A Somfy trigger in Link’nX starts a scenario when the status of a device of a Somfy box changes or reaches a value: closure, deployment, slat orientation, open state, movement or status. It monitors a status of the sub-device and must then be added to the scenario concerned.
Intended for administrators and installers who prepare automations. To control the device, see the Somfy actions; to send its statuses to the KNX bus, see the Somfy KNX gateway.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- The box is declared and its discovered devices are saved.
Create the trigger
Section titled “Create the trigger”- Check the project and the gateway. Open Triggers, then Add, and choose Somfy in Select a trigger type.
- Fill in Name, required, 64 characters maximum, not only spaces.
- In Somfy box, choose the box, then select Device. For a URL you already know, choose ✎ Enter the URL manually… and fill in Sub-device URL with the confirmed URL of a device of this box.
- In Somfy state, select the status to monitor. Depending on the known capabilities, the catalog offers Closure, Deployment, Target closure, Slat orientation, Open / closed, Moving or Status.
- Choose Operator, then fill in Value when the table below requires it.
- Click the round floppy disk at the bottom right. Wait for Success!, then find the trigger in the list.
- Add it to the scenario concerned and check the scenario’s actions, conditions and activation. Saving the trigger does not create this association.
| Operator | Value field |
|---|---|
| Any change | None; the trigger reacts to an event concerning the selected status. |
| Equals | Required: value to compare with the received status. |
| Greater than | Required and numeric: threshold. |
| Less than | Required and numeric: threshold. |
Fictitious example: to react to a closure equal to zero, choose Closure, Equals, then enter 0.
Target closure is the announced target, to be distinguished from Closure. For Open / closed, Moving and Status, have the value published for the status and device concerned confirmed before using it in a comparison: the interface labels do not allow you to infer the text received. If this value is not known, ask support for it before configuring an automation that depends on it.
Edit the trigger
Section titled “Edit the trigger”Open the name or the pencil of the trigger. The type remains read-only. Review the parameters and save with the floppy disk. If affected scenarios are displayed, review their names, then confirm with SAVE, or choose CANCEL. Wait for Updated!. Duplication and unsaved changes are described in the common triggers guide.
- Changing the device can clear Somfy state if the new target does not offer the previous status: choose an available status, then check the operator and its value.
- Changing the box also requires selecting the device again.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”The trigger appears in the list and in the scenario. Any change waits for an event on the selected status: the save alone is not a Somfy event. To test, cause an actual change of the monitored status and check that the scenario starts.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Message when saving | Action |
|---|---|
| Issue with device field selection. At least one value required. | Choose the box in Somfy box. |
| Please provide the Somfy sub-device URL | Choose a device or fill in the manual URL. |
| Please select a Somfy state | Choose a Somfy state, for example after changing the device. |
| Please provide a value for the comparison | Fill in Value, or choose Any change. |
| The comparison value must be a number | With Greater than or Less than, enter a number. |
- The device is missing although it appears in the discovery: save the box’s declaration after the discovery, then reopen the trigger and select the right box. An old URL kept in the form does not confirm that the device is still present.
- The scenario does not start: check in turn the box and the device, the chosen status, the operator and its value, then the scenario’s association and activation. If the conditions or the execution are blocking, see how scenarios work.
Contact support
Section titled “Contact support”If these checks are already done, write to support@can-nx.com with the context, the status, the operator, the value, the symptom and the tests carried out. Do not send any token or key.
