Samsung TV and KNX integration with Link’nX

With Link’nX, a Samsung TV is controlled from the KNX bus and from the installation’s scenarios: power, volume, mute, channels, playback, input, apps and keys. Its power state, volume level and mute state can be read back on the bus. The available functions vary depending on the model and its settings.

  1. Declare the TV in Audio & Media → Samsung TV: name, IPv4 address and, for network wake-up, MAC address.
  2. Map its commands and feedback to KNX group addresses. Save each tab before switching to another.
  3. Prepare the Samsung TV actions, in particular for the commands missing from the KNX table, then add them to a saved scenario, started if needed by a KNX trigger.
  4. Test each command on the TV.

If something goes wrong, the Samsung actions guide covers network wake-up, volume setting with no effect and commands that get no response.

  • Have the model’s compatibility and its command authorizations confirmed. The Pairing Token is optional to save the declaration; the field help says it is retrieved after the first connection.
  • KNX commands use DPT 1.001 and the volume DPT 5.001 (0 to 100). For pulses (volume, channel, mute toggle, Stop), a release telegram 0 does not execute a second command.
  • Set input, Set channel, Launch app and Send key are prepared only as scenario actions. The HDMI choice does not designate a numbered port.
  • Absolute volume and mute control depend on support by the model, notably UPnP RenderingControl.
  • A Power state feedback of 0 may also mean that the TV is unreachable.
