Samsung or Sony TV and KNX: map commands and feedback in Link’nX
Link’nXAdministratorInstaller
Link’nX web: KNX gateway table of a declared Samsung or Sony TV
The gateway table of a Samsung TV in Link’nX maps the group addresses of your KNX project to its commands (power, volume, mute, channels, playback) and to its status feedback (power, volume, mute). A KNX push button or visualization can then control the TV without going through a scenario. The same table exists for Sony, with rows to have validated before activation.
Intended for the installer or administrator with the KNX address plan and the authorized integration. To change input, launch an app or send a key to a Samsung TV, use a scenario action instead.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- The TV is declared, as described in the Sony or Samsung declaration.
- The group addresses assigned by the installer and their DPTs are defined in the KNX project.
- For Sony, have support confirm that mappings are supported in your version and on your model before activating them.
Open the Samsung gateway table
Section titled “Open the Samsung gateway table”- In the right project and the right gateway, open Audio & Media → Samsung TV.
- On the TV’s row, click the two opposite arrows, Gateway mode configuration.
- The Actions tab contains the commands. The second tab, with a speech bubble, contains the status feedback.
Address formats, the filter and row deactivation are described in the KNX table guide.
Map the Samsung commands and feedback
Section titled “Map the Samsung commands and feedback”- Choose the useful rows using the table below. The name and DPT of each row are fixed.
- In Address, enter the group address assigned by the installer, then check Active for the mappings to use. A fictitious address such as
1/2/20is only used if it matches the project. - Click the floppy disk at the bottom right and wait for Succès — Données sauvegardées avec succès ! (Success — Data saved successfully!). Save each tab before switching to another.
| Samsung function | DPT | Expected value or behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Set power | 1.001 | 1 requests power on, 0 power off; wake-up depends on the declared MAC address and the model |
| Set volume | 5.001 | Percentage value from 0 to 100, if the TV allows absolute setting |
| Volume up, Volume down, Toggle mute, Channel up, Channel down, Stop | 1.001 | Active pulse; a release telegram 0 does not execute a second command |
| Set mute | 1.001 | 1 requests mute, 0 unmute, if the function is supported |
| Set play/pause | 1.001 | 1 requests play, 0 pause, depending on the current content |
| Power state | 1.001 | Feedback: 0 may also correspond to an unreachable TV, and not necessarily to a physical power-off |
| Volume level | 5.001 | Level feedback from 0 to 100, if available |
| Mute state | 1.001 | Feedback 1 for muted, 0 for sound on, if available |
Set input, Set channel, Launch app and Send key are prepared in a Samsung scenario action: they are not rows of the KNX table in this version. This table has no Samsung Current input feedback either. If launching a scenario from the bus is enough for you, use a KNX trigger and the saved scenario; the selection of a specific HDMI port then remains to be checked on the TV.
Sony: have the rows validated before activation
Section titled “Sony: have the rows validated before activation”The same gateway button exists on the Sony TV row. The table offers in particular Set volume with 5.010, Set input and Launch app with 16.001, as well as the feedback Power state, Volume level, Mute state and Current input. These DPTs may differ from the Samsung ones: do not copy the Samsung DPTs into the Sony rows.
Have the Sony commands, values, text addresses, scales and feedback confirmed before activating mappings. If a row is not readable in your interface, give support the brand and the label displayed, with a masked screenshot if useful, rather than choosing a row by guesswork. To prepare a Sony action, see the form fields.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”- Return to the list and reopen the gateway to review the addresses and checked boxes.
- Saving confirms the saved mappings. Then send each command from the bus, for example with a push button or the ETS group monitor, and watch the TV.
- Check each feedback separately on its own address: a command sent does not indicate the value received as feedback.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- No feedback or unexpected result: check the context, the device row, the saved addresses, the DPT and the Active box. Clearly distinguish the command address from the feedback address.
- No Samsung volume or mute feedback: this feedback may be missing if the corresponding function is not available on the TV. Treat an absence of response as missing information, not as a zero value.
- Do not reset the TV, the project or its mappings to artificially obtain a known state.
If these checks have been done, contact support@can-nx.com with the model, function, DPT, symptom and tests already carried out, without the token or PSK.
French labels: Configuration de la partie passerelle, Actions, Définir alimentation, Régler le volume, Définir le mute, Définir lecture/pause, État d’alimentation, Niveau de volume, État du mute. Identify the second tab by its position and its bubble; the table’s confirmation remains Données sauvegardées avec succès !.
