Samsung TV in a Link’nX scenario: power, volume, input and channels

Link’nX web: scenario actions of a declared Samsung TV
A Samsung TV action in Link’nX sends a command to one or more declared Samsung TVs: power on, power off, volume, mute, TV or HDMI input, channel, playback, app launch or remote key. You then add it to a scenario.
Intended for the administrator or installer, in an authorized project and gateway. To control the TV directly from KNX group addresses, use the Samsung KNX table instead: it does not offer all the commands of the actions.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- The TV is declared, as described in declaring a Samsung TV. For network wake-up, the declaration must include the MAC address.
- Have the model’s compatibility and its command authorizations confirmed if the installation is not already validated. The available functions vary depending on the TV and its settings.
Create the Samsung TV action
Section titled “Create the Samsung TV action”- Open Actions → Add, then choose Samsung TV.
- Fill in Name, required, for example
Fictitious room input. - In Samsung TV device, select at least one declared TV. The selection is multiple; Select all includes all the devices offered. Review the target.
- Choose Samsung TV command and complete Command value if it appears, according to the table below.
- Click the floppy disk at the bottom right and wait for Success!.
- Add the action to the relevant scenario and save that scenario. Triggering the scenario is separate from saving the action.
Choose the command and its value
Section titled “Choose the command and its value”| Command | Value and useful limit |
|---|---|
| Power on | No value. Network wake-up requires the MAC address in the declaration, a compatible model and Wake-on-LAN allowed in the installation |
| Power off | No value. Have the model’s standby or Art mode variants confirmed; powering off does not necessarily suit all states |
| Set volume | Integer from 0 to 100, 0 included. Absolute setting and the associated sound functions require corresponding support by the TV |
| Volume up, Volume down | No numeric field: one-step command |
| Mute, Unmute, Toggle mute | No value. The last choice inverts the state; it does not on its own set a known state |
| Set input | Choose TV or HDMI. HDMI does not designate a numbered port and may cycle through the inputs: this choice does not ensure that you land on HDMI 2 |
| Channel up, Channel down | No value |
| Set channel | Positive or zero integer. The number must correspond to an available channel; decimal numbers are not accepted |
| Play, Pause, Stop | No value; the effect depends on the content and the app currently running |
| Launch app | Text containing the identifier suited to the TV app. Have this identifier confirmed: a commercial name or an arbitrary URL is not enough |
| Send key | Text of the key allowed for the model, for example KEY_HOME. Have the key and its effect confirmed if you do not know them; do not use it to guess a reset procedure |
For a specific HDMI input, an app identifier, particular keys or a standby behavior that has not been established, have the path confirmed by support before configuring the action.
To edit or duplicate an action, follow action editing. A change applies to subsequent executions; deleting an action does not recall a command already received.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”- Reopen the action with Edit to check the saved settings.
- During an authorized test in your installation, launch the scenario and check the observable result on the TV. Success! confirms that the form is saved, not pairing or receipt of the command.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Symptom | Checks |
|---|---|
| Cannot save | Check Name, Samsung TV device, Samsung TV command and the requested value. The volume must be an integer between 0 and 100. An empty device selection or a missing required value blocks the action. |
| Power on does not wake the TV, but other commands work when it is on | Check this TV’s MAC address and have its wake-up capability and network settings confirmed. A declaration without a MAC can be saved, but it does not prepare network wake-up. |
| Volume up works, but Set volume or Mute/Unmute does not respond | Check that the model supports absolute sound control, notably UPnP RenderingControl. For manual adjustment, Volume up and Volume down remain usable if they work; Toggle mute does not replace Mute. For an automation that requires a precise value or state, contact support. |
| No command responds | Check the project and gateway, the selected device, the current IP address, that the TV is reachable and the authorizations intended for its model, then that the scenario is saved and actually launched. Do not delete the token in an attempt to fix things at random. |
Contact support
Section titled “Contact support”If these checks have already been done, write to support@can-nx.com with the model, the project and gateway, the action and scenario, the checks carried out (target, IP address…), the expected result, the observed result and the message shown. Mask tokens and other sensitive data in screenshots.
