Add a Shelly device in Link’nX: IP address, port and credentials
Link’nXAdministratorInstaller
Link’nX web: Shelly list in the Smart Home category, depending on the project and gateway option
Declare a Shelly device (relay, cover or dimmer) in Link’nX with its IPv4 address, its port and, if its local access is protected, its credentials. This declaration prepares its KNX mappings. It does not create a Shelly Cloud account and offers neither a generation selector nor channel discovery.
Intended for the installer or administrator of the project and the gateway, when Shelly is available in the options of your context.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Note the device’s IPv4 address and port, and its authorized credentials if local access is protected.
- Have the model, generation, mode and available channels confirmed if they are unknown. Link’nX then offers the same rows for every device: yours does not necessarily have all the corresponding relays, covers or dimmers.
- Have the exact support of the model and firmware, the Shelly network settings, mode activation and calibration confirmed for the installation.
- For a Gen1 cover or dimmer, have the suitable procedure validated by support before relying on the KNX commands and feedback.
Choose the credentials for the generation
Section titled “Choose the credentials for the generation”| Device | Username | Password |
|---|---|---|
| Gen2/Gen3 with authentication | admin | The one configured for the device |
| Gen1 with authentication | The one of its local access | The one of its local access |
| Local access without authentication | Empty | Empty |
Leaving the fields empty does not bypass authentication: do so only if the device’s local access allows it.
Declare the device
Section titled “Declare the device”- Select the right project and the right gateway in Link’nX.
- Open Smart Home → Shelly, or search for Shelly in the device navigation. On a small screen, first open the navigation.
- Click Add.
- Fill in Name, required, up to 64 characters. Fictitious example:
Fictitious room relay. - Fill in IP address, required, in IPv4 format. Fictitious example:
192.0.2.30. Enter the address of the intended device, without a host name, path or port. - Check Port, prefilled with 80: keep it or enter the installation’s port. If in doubt, have the value confirmed rather than clearing the field.
- Fill in Username and Password according to the table above. The form accepts these fields empty; the device’s local access decides whether they are required.
- Click the floppy disk at the bottom right and wait for Success!. The device appears in the list with its name, IP and port.
The password is masked; the eye at the end of the field shows or hides it. Never share it in a message or an e-mail, and mask it on any screenshot.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”- On the device’s row, click the Edit pencil and review the saved settings.
- Map a command in the Shelly gateway table, send it from the bus and watch the device. This test validates authentication and the hardware’s response: Success! only confirms that the settings are saved.
Edit or delete the device
Section titled “Edit or delete the device”- With the Edit pencil, change only the relevant fields, save with the floppy disk and wait for Updated!. Then reopen the declaration to review the values. If you leave a modified form, answer the save prompt.
- The Delete trash can in the list asks for confirmation. First check the mappings and automations that use this device; the automation lists help you find them. Removing the declaration does not reset the Shelly and does not revoke its local access.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- Floppy disk disabled: check Name, the IPv4 format of IP address and the numeric format of Port.
- Shelly missing from the navigation: check the project, the gateway and the option with Link’nX navigation. Access depends on the option available in your installation, not on Shelly appearing in an offer or a catalog.
- Success! but no reaction from the device: check the IP, the port and the credentials required by its generation, then follow the Shelly feedback troubleshooting.
Contact support
Section titled “Contact support”If the settings remain unknown or these checks are already done, write to support@can-nx.com with the model, the project and gateway, the symptom and the tests carried out. Never send the password.
