Save, edit or duplicate a Link’nX scenario

Link’nX web: scenario editor, in creation, edit or duplication mode

In the Link’nX scenario editor, changes made to the form only take effect once saved with the floppy disk. The same form is used to create a scenario, edit an existing one or start from a copy, and it warns you if you leave it with unsaved changes.

Intended for administrators and installers. To build the content of the scenario, follow the composition guide.

  • Check the project, the gateway and the scenario concerned before editing or duplicating.
  • A scenario can only be saved with a non-empty name of 64 characters maximum, at least one trigger and at least one action card.
  1. Check Name, the Triggers chips, the Conditions, the Interruption targets and the Actions cards.
  2. Click the round button with the floppy disk icon, fixed at the bottom right of the page.
  3. Wait for Success! after a creation, or Updated! after an edit. The application returns to the scenario list.
  1. Open Scenarios, then click the scenario’s name or its pencil. The title Scenario modification confirms this mode.
  2. Apply the changes with the composition and sequence guides.
  3. Save with the floppy disk. This save updates the selected scenario.
  1. In Scenarios, open the row’s three-dot menu, then Duplicate. If the individual commands are hidden, first exit Select mode.
  2. Check the title Scenario duplication. The name is copied with the suffix — New Copy. Replace it with an explicit name of 64 characters maximum: the suffix can make the copied name too long.
  3. Review all the copied triggers, conditions, actions, delays and interruption targets.
  4. Click the floppy disk. A successful creation adds another scenario to the list.

The copy also takes over the folder and the activation state of the original scenario: if the original is enabled, so is the copy.

To leave, use the back arrow to the left of the title or choose another page of the application. The Unsaved changes window offers:

  • Cancel: stay in the form and keep the current changes;
  • Don’t save: leave and discard these changes;
  • Save: attempt to save, then go to the requested destination if it succeeds. If a required field is missing or the save fails, you stay in the form to correct the point concerned.

When closing or reloading the tab, the browser may display its own warning, without offering to save the scenario: stay on the page to use the floppy disk. A successful save is kept when you leave the page. To revert saved settings, reopen the scenario, restore the desired values yourself and save: this form offers no automatic restoration of an earlier version.

  • Find the scenario in the list. If necessary, reset the list filters, then reopen it to check the saved items.
  • After a duplication, check the copy’s name, folder and switch before continuing.
  • A scenario created with Add is initially disabled: set its activation when its configuration is ready.

A saved scenario can then be selected in the HomeKit export; in that case, check the limits of this launch. To notify an account, add a Pushover action to the scenario.
