Apple HomeKit: export Link’nX actions and scenarios

In Link’nX, the HomeKit export chooses the actions and scenarios offered to HomeKit. The selection is made in a filterable list, then saved; it does not immediately run the automations.

For the administrator or installer with the HomeKit option in the relevant project and gateway. For pairing and using the exported commands, follow the HomeKit operation and troubleshooting guide.

Before you start

• The actions and scenarios to export are prepared in Link’nX, with the action editor and saving scenarios.
• The project and gateway selected in Link’nX are those of the installation.

Open the selection

1. Open Smart Home → HomeKit in the device navigation, or search for HomeKit. On a small screen, first open the navigation.
2. In HomeKit configuration, the HomeKit row shows the PIN code. This code belongs to your installation: do not share it, and hide it on any screenshot intended for support.
3. Click the Filter funnel, to the right of this row. The Export actions or scenarios to HomeKit screen opens. The HomeKit list has no Add button: this path goes through the funnel.

Select and save the items

1. The list combines actions and scenarios, each preceded by ACTION or SCENARIO in square brackets. Check the items you want; check the prefix if an action and a scenario have similar names.
2. To narrow the list, type part of the name in Scenario or action name. The filter ignores case.
3. Clear the filter and review all the checkboxes before saving.
4. Click the floppy disk at the bottom right. Wait for Success! and the return to HomeKit configuration.

Save explicitly before leaving: do not rely on a confirmation when leaving to keep changes made with the global selection buttons.

Use Tout sélectionner without losing a selection

Tout sélectionner (Select all) replaces the selection with the items currently visible in the filter: a selection located outside the filter is not kept. To select the whole list, first clear the search. Tout désélectionner (Deselect all) clears the whole selection, not just the visible rows.

Fictitious example: an action Entrance lighting and a scenario Departure are checked. If you filter on Entrance then click Tout sélectionner, Departure is no longer selected. Review the full selection and check it again before saving if you want to keep it.

Remove an item from the export

Reopen the selection, uncheck the items to remove, then save and review. You can save an empty selection to remove all the items from this export. The actions and scenarios remain in Link’nX: this operation does not delete them and does not cancel an action already run.

Check the result

1. Reopen the selection with Filter and check the boxes actually saved.
2. Then check the display in the Apple app separately: saving in Link’nX and Apple pairing are separate. After each save of the selection, the Home app updates automatically after a while.

Troubleshooting

• HomeKit does not appear: check the project, the gateway and the option following the Link’nX navigation guide, then have its availability confirmed by support.
• An item disappeared after Tout sélectionner: clear the search and check all the boxes, because this button uses the current filter. Restore the intended selection, save, then reopen.
• A new item cannot be found: check that it is saved in the right project and the right gateway, then reopen the export and clear the search.
• An item was renamed: review its selection and save it, then give the Home app time to update. If the new name still does not follow, have the update confirmed by support.
• The selection is saved, but nothing appears in HomeKit: see the HomeKit operation and troubleshooting guide.
