Create, edit and duplicate a Link’nX scenario condition

Link’nXAdministratorInstaller

Link’nX web: Conditions list, form as a full page or a panel depending on type and width

A Link’nX condition restricts the circumstances in which a scenario can start: dates, days and months, time range, day or night, value of a KNX group address. It checks a criterion; it does not replace the scenario’s trigger.

Intended for administrators and installers.

  1. In the Link’nX navigation, open Conditions, then Add. The title Condition creation appears.
  2. In Select a condition type, choose the type using the table below, which links to the guide for its criteria.
  3. Fill in Name, required, 64 characters maximum and other than spaces. Use a name that describes the rule, for example “Reception on weekdays” as a fictitious example.
  4. Fill in the criteria.
  5. Click the floppy disk in the round button at the bottom right. After Success!, find the condition in the list.

A condition only takes effect if a scenario selects it: in the scenario form, choose it in its field, then save the scenario too.

The scenario lets you choose one condition in each of the first three fields and several KNX conditions. Its selected conditions are combined with AND. If you need to combine two rules offered in the same single-choice field, contact support to determine the appropriate configuration. Viewing a second condition sheet does not add it to the scenario.

  1. In Conditions, open the condition’s name or its pencil. Condition modification appears. Condition type is read-only.
  2. Change the criteria, then click the floppy disk.
  3. If scenarios use it, Scenario affected by this change: or Scenarios affected by this change: shows their names. Review them, then click SAVE to confirm, or CANCEL to return to the form.
  4. Wait for Updated!: the update is then confirmed.
  1. Open the row’s three dots, then Duplicate. In Condition duplication, the name gets the suffix — Copy.
  2. Replace this name, check the copied criteria, then save.
  3. Add this new condition to the desired scenarios: the copy does not automatically replace the original in their selections.

The edit or duplication may open in a panel or as a full page, depending on the type and the screen width. Edit in full page lets you reach the full page from the panel. Save with the floppy disk before closing, changing row or changing layout: this way you review the affected scenarios before confirming.

To discard the changes, return to the list without saving. If Unsaved changes appears, Cancel keeps the form and Don’t save confirms discarding. To keep the changes, stay in the form and use its floppy disk.

  • To know whether your changes are saved, rely on the Success! and Updated! messages rather than on whether the Unsaved changes warning appears.
  • Reopen the condition from the list and review its criteria.
  • The save does not go through: check the name, the type-specific fields and the confirmation of the affected scenarios.
  • Issue with field ‘Name’.: enter a non-empty name.
  • An error remains unexplained: do not change other conditions to work around it.

If the result remains uncertain, contact support@can-nx.com with the condition type, its name, the context, the message and the step.
