Link’nXAdministratorInstaller
Link’nX web: HTTP action form, URL field
A Link’nX HTTP action issues a GET request to the command URL of a piece of equipment or a service when it is executed, by a scenario or by a manual run. It is meant for outgoing commands; to receive a call that triggers a Link’nX scenario, use the HTTP trigger.
Intended for administrators and installers who have the command URL of a piece of equipment or a service they are authorized to use.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- You have the full command URL provided for your equipment or service, with its HTTP or HTTPS prefix.
- This command is intended for a GET request. The form does not offer a choice of method, a request body or separate authentication fields.
Create the HTTP action
Section titled “Create the HTTP action”- Open Actions, then click Add.
- Choose HTTP in Select an action type.
- Fill in Name: required, 64 characters maximum, not made only of spaces.
- In URL, paste the full command address, with its HTTP or HTTPS prefix and no space before it.
- Click the floppy disk at the bottom right. After Success!, find the action in the list.
To edit it later and confirm the affected scenarios, follow the action save guide.
Use the action
Section titled “Use the action”- To automate it, add the action to the scenario.
- A manual run immediately requests the URL call and can act on the equipment or service: keep it for a deliberate test whose effect you know.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”Success! confirms that the action is saved. To check that the recipient is reachable and executes the command, perform a controlled test and watch the equipment or service.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Message | Action |
|---|---|
| Issue with the field ‘URL’. It requires a value. | Fill in the full URL: an empty field or one made of spaces is not suitable. |
| Issue ‘URL’ incorrect. Incorrect format. | Check the HTTP or HTTPS prefix and that there is no space at the start. |
For other blockages, follow the action troubleshooting. If the command requires another HTTP method or a specific authentication, or if the equipment does not react after a controlled test, contact support@can-nx.com stating the context, the type of service, the message and the expected result. Do not share a URL containing a secret, a token or credentials, either in writing or in a screenshot.
