Link’nX web: Actions list, KNX and HTTP action forms, run

Action type missing, KNX action that does not save, duplicate address, name or URL rejected, action not found or with no effect: here are the causes and checks for each step of a Link’nX action. Intended for administrators and installers. Start by identifying the blocked step: choosing the type, adding an address, saving, finding the action in the list or running it.

Why does the action type I am looking for not appear?

Section titled “Why does the action type I am looking for not appear?”

An ongoing search can hide it. In Select an action type, clear Search a type…. If it appears, choose it and continue with the action form. If it remains absent, the types offered may depend on the context and the options enabled: send the type you are looking for and the context to support, without changing the other settings.

Why does my KNX action not save when the address is filled in?

Section titled “Why does my KNX action not save when the address is filled in?”

An address only entered in the entry block is not yet part of the action. Look at Added actions :. If the count is zero, check Group Address and DPT in the entry block, fill in the intended value, then click ADD TO THE ACTION GROUP. Check the resulting row before clicking the floppy disk. If the count is already positive, also check Name and the message displayed. The KNX actions guide details the formats and multiple rows.

Use the Remove button of the extra row. In the KNX form, first compare the rows under Added actions : to spot the unintended addition. The removal is immediate in the form: check the address of the removed row and the remaining rows before saving.

With Issue with field ‘Name’., enter a name that is not made only of spaces and is 64 characters maximum. After a duplication, replace the copy suffix if necessary to respect this length.

Why is the URL of an HTTP action rejected?

Section titled “Why is the URL of an HTTP action rejected?”

The message gives the cause. With Issue with the field ‘URL’. It requires a value., fill in the full URL. With Issue ‘URL’ incorrect. Incorrect format., check its HTTP or HTTPS prefix and that there is no space at the start. Follow the HTTP actions guide; do not change the command or credentials at random.

What if “Save” does not close the editor?

Section titled “What if “Save” does not close the editor?”

For an action linked to scenarios, save with the floppy disk in the form, reread the affected scenarios window, then choose SAVE. If fields are flagged, correct them first. If saving still fails after these checks, send the message to support.

Why does my saved action not appear in the list?

Section titled “Why does my saved action not appear in the list?”

After the success message, open Actions and clear the search and the list filters. Also check the project, the gateway and the name used. For actions generated from ETS, follow the post-generation check. If the action is still missing, contact support before recreating it.

Why is the action run without producing the expected result?

Section titled “Why is the action run without producing the expected result?”

The run message confirms the request, not the physical state of the equipment. Check the action, its addresses or devices and the known values. For KNX, --- does not mean zero: set the intended default values or check the scenario-specific value. If the run comes from a scenario, take its delays into account. Follow the run guide, then contact support if the result is still absent; avoid repeating tests.

If you have already made the checks of a question above without success, write to support@can-nx.com without repeating them. State the Link’nX product, the project and gateway concerned, the name and type of the action, the blocked step, the exact message and the checks already made. A screenshot without sensitive data can help; do not attach any password, key or URL containing a secret. Also write to support for a command type or a value that is not described in these guides.
