Chart’nX energy or water generator: Modbus catalog, meters and dashboards

Configuration created but missing from the dashboard, gateway or configuration gone, grayed-out test, empty chart despite a successful reading: here are the answers to common questions about the Chart’nX Modbus catalog, energy or water, for administrators and installers.

Why doesn’t my new configuration appear in my dashboard?

Section titled “Why doesn’t my new configuration appear in my dashboard?”

A configuration created from the catalog is not added to any dashboard: Create & use then takes you back to the list. Then select the entry in a meter or import it as a submeter, and save the dashboard.

From a card, the creation selects the entry in this card; from the import, it adds a submeter. Creations made with Then create another are not all added automatically to the dashboard. See the configuration form.

Where have my gateway or my configuration gone?

Section titled “Where have my gateway or my configuration gone?”

First check that they are not simply hidden. Check the project, clear the search and expand the groups in the catalog, then look in Archived. A … counter or the message Could not refresh the catalog does not prove a deletion.

The message displayed gives the cause: a gateway that has just been created, a disabled gateway, a gateway not found in this project, or a configuration to re-save. Follow the test troubleshooting according to the exact message. Do not archive or recreate the configuration to work around this block.

Why is the chart empty when the test responds?

Section titled “Why is the chart empty when the test responds?”

The test reads a live value, whereas the chart shows the historical data for the chosen period. Check that the dashboard meter uses this entry, that the dashboard has been saved, that the card is enabled and displayed, then check the period. See also the meter troubleshooting.

Why do I still see the old values after archiving?

Section titled “Why do I still see the old values after archiving?”

This is the expected behavior: archiving keeps the history and stops new readings of this configuration. Check the displayed period before concluding that the stop was not taken into account.

Is restoring a configuration enough after its gateway was deleted?

Section titled “Is restoring a configuration enough after its gateway was deleted?”

No. The configuration can be restored without a gateway, then become editable again. Then identify and select the correct gateway, and check the reading. Its presence in Active does not mean that the installation already responds.

Why does the gateway still exist after I canceled my dashboard?

Section titled “Why does the gateway still exist after I canceled my dashboard?”

Creations, edits, state changes, archives and deletions confirmed in the catalog are saved independently of the dashboard. Use the procedure corresponding to the change you want and check its impact on the other dashboards; see the gateways and the archives.

If the problem persists after these checks, write to support@can-nx.com with: Chart’nX — Modbus, the project and the dashboard, the name of the gateway or configuration, the symptom and the message observed, the period concerned, the result and time of the reading test, and the steps already tried.
