Configure a Boss’nX guest QR code: components, location and session

Boss’nXAdministratorInstaller

Boss’nX supervision: Configure window of a QR access, Manage topology right

The Configure window of a Boss’nX QR access groups three settings: the components the guest can access, the location restriction and the session duration. Use it to reassign an existing code, restrict access to people present on site or make guests scan the QR code again after a delay.

Intended for administrators and installers with the Manage topology right in the code’s supervision.

  1. Open Menu → Guest access and find the code’s label with the QR list.
  2. On its row, click Configure. On a small screen, use the gear icon with this same name. The Configure · window followed by the label opens.
  3. Adjust the useful tabs, described below. Switching from one tab to another keeps the changes in the window.
  4. Click Save changes.

Cancel, Close or a click outside leaves the window without saving the pending changes. To undo a setting that is already saved, restore it, then save again.

In the Zones & components tab, use the search, the chevrons and the checkboxes as for selecting components at creation. The boxes checked when the window opens represent the components of the assignment that are still available. Keep at least one component selected: unchecking everything does not remove the assignment in this window.

The warning Active guest sessions will be revoked. accompanies the reassignment. Notify the people concerned and ask them to open the access again after the change.

Reassign or remove the assignment from a zone

Section titled “Reassign or remove the assignment from a zone”

From a zone’s Create QR access window, Existing codes → Edit → Reassign opens a separate setting.

  1. Choose the components, then click Reassign. The text states that the QR code and its link remain unchanged.
  2. To remove the assignment, click Remove assignment. The removal applies directly, without further confirmation: click Cancel before this click to keep the configuration.
  3. Go back to the central list and check the Unassigned state. To restore a scope later, reassign components.

In the Location tab, check Location security when guests must be close to the site.

  • Using site location: the check uses the site coordinates.
  • Click the map to choose a point specific to this QR code: Using custom location appears.
  • Reset to site default removes this custom point at the next save.

If Pick a location on the map — the site has no registered coordinates. appears, choose a point or have the site coordinates filled in. Keep the restriction active rather than disabling it to work around an unknown position. The map represents an area around the point, not the actual position of a guest’s phone or its acceptance.

In the Session tab, turn on Limit session duration, then choose Expires after: 15 min, 1 h, 4 h, 8 h or 24 h. The first activation normally suggests one hour.

For another duration, choose Custom, enter a positive value, then Minutes or Hours. The duration must be between one minute and 24 hours. Before saving, review it in the sentence Guests must re-scan the QR code after…: an empty, zero or out-of-range entry is not kept as entered.

This duration applies to the guest’s session; it is not an end date for the printed QR code. Disabling the limit displays No expiry — the session stays active until the tab is closed. A removal, a reassignment or another access refusal can still interrupt the access.

  1. After the window closes, check the Restrictions and State columns of the list.
  2. Reopen Configure and review the saved settings in each tab.
  3. After a reassignment, check the displayed components before considering the change as applied on the installation.
  • Saving fails: reopen the settings and check each tab, because some of the changes may have been saved.
  • A guest cannot get in or resume their session: follow guest QR troubleshooting.
  • A precise distance is required, or a guest is refused despite a correct position: contact support.

If the problem persists after these checks, write to support@can-nx.com with the label, the modified tabs, the message and the observed results, without the QR code, a private link or a secret.
