Boss’nX alarm history: search, filter and read an alarm

Boss’nX: Alarms page of a supervision or Aggregated alarms of the hypervision

The Boss’nX Alarm History page lists the alarms of a supervision, or of several projects in hypervision, with their severity, component, reason, value and acknowledgment state. Find an alarm by component, period or status, then read its row to understand what triggered it.

For the everyday user, the administrator and the installer authorized to view alarms. Acting on an alarm requires additional rights: see acknowledgment, standby and deleting entries.

  1. In the supervision of the building concerned, click Alarms in the navigation bar: at the top of the screen, or in the bottom bar on a tablet or phone. If the entry does not appear there, open Menu → Alarms. See navigation in Boss’nX.
  2. Check Alarm History and the supervision’s name in the header.
  3. Choose the Ongoing, Ended or Standby tab. Active alarms whose datapoint is in standby are placed in this last tab; inactive alarms remain in Ended.

The tab counters cover the accessible alarms before the search, period and severity filters: a non-zero counter may therefore go with an empty filtered list. The badge on the Alarms entry shows new alarms or, failing that, the number of ongoing unacknowledged alarms; opening the page does not replace acknowledging an alarm.

Use Aggregated alarms. The Project filter replaces Floor and a Project column is added. The standby tab and its actions do not appear there: standby is viewed and set from the building’s supervision.

From the aggregated dashboard, clicking Technical alarms also opens this history, as described in the guide to the alarm summary in hypervision.

  1. Type a component name or a few words of its message in Search by component or message….
  2. Under Severity, select High, Medium or Low. These three labels remain in English in the French interface.
  3. If needed, select one or more floors, or projects in the aggregated view.
  4. Under Status, choose Active or Inactive. A status incompatible with the selected tab gives an empty list.
  5. Under Acknowledgment, choose Yes or No.
  6. To limit the period, fill in the Start and/or End date and time. Both bounds apply to the start of the alarm, in the browser’s local time: End does not filter the end time of an inactive alarm.

Several choices within the same family are accepted, and the families combine. Click a selected chip again to remove it. Reset, next to the dates, only empties the two bounds: also empty the search and remove the other chips to get the unfiltered list back.

To include a whole day, do not leave its End bound at midnight at the start of the day, and check the time entered. The bounds are inclusive; an end earlier than the start may hide all the rows.

Display times follow the browser; the export uses another format, explained in the CSV guide.

Column or markerMeaning
Severity levelSeverity High, Medium or Low.
ComponentName associated with the alarm. When it appears as a blue link, click it to open its detail. In the aggregated view, the link opens the corresponding supervision.
Message, ReasonMessage and trigger reason. On a computer, hover over truncated text to read it in full.
ValueA green dot next to a numeric value indicates a live value. Without this marker, the row may show the trigger value. A dash does not mean zero.
Start, StatusDate and time of the trigger, then Active or Inactive state.
End, Cleared valueAdditional information in the Ended tab. A dash indicates information that is not displayed.
AcknowledgedYes or No, regardless of the active or inactive status.
Config modifiedThe alarm’s configuration has changed since it was triggered, as the tooltip indicates.

Low threshold, High threshold or Threshold may be accompanied by their limits. No signal may indicate a delay, for example more than sixty seconds. Comparison, Values and Boolean describe other conditions. These reasons describe the condition met; they are not enough to determine remotely the actual cause of an incident.

By default, the most recent starts are shown first. To sort, click Severity level, Floor, Reason, Start, Status or Acknowledged, as well as Project or End when they are present; a second click reverses the direction. For another sort order, use the CSV export.

Empty list or alarm not foundFirst check the building or the project, then the tab. Remove the search, the chips and the dates.
Alarms entry or expected information missingThe account’s visibility rules may limit the accessible alarms: have your rights checked.

If the expected list remains inaccessible, if the sorting does not give a reliable result or if you cannot interpret an alarm, contact support@can-nx.com with the product, the building, the message and the filters already checked.
