KNX monitoring in Boss’nX: troubleshoot selection and saving

Boss’nX on a computer: address selection and saving in Data logging → KNX addresses
Page or address missing, greyed-out Save, exceeded limit, failed or partial save, missing measurements: here are the answers to issues with Data logging → KNX addresses in Boss’nX, for administrators and installers with Manage components. For the first configuration, follow selecting the addresses to log.
Why is the page or an address missing?
Section titled “Why is the page or an address missing?”The cause depends on what you see: find the symptom or message in the table.
| Symptom | What to do |
|---|---|
| Data logging missing from the Menu | Check the supervision of the right building, then the Integration family of the Menu, which may be folded. Have the administrator check Manage components: the permission to view analytics is not enough for this configuration. |
| No CannX project linked. | Check the open building. If the context is correct, have the project association checked by the administrator or support. Do not create a replacement project to get around this message. |
| No addresses found. | Clear the search, choose All tags if this list is present, then expand the groups. Check the name or the address with the component’s KNX datapoint. |
| No component configured. | Check the components and their addresses in the right supervision. Also look at Non-BOSS-nX addresses, if this section appears. This message does not indicate that the history has been deleted. |
| Greyed-out row, No gateway | The component has no assigned gateway: have it confirmed. Do not change its address or its DPT just to make the checkbox available. |
| Loading that persists, usual selection missing or unexpected counter | Check the session and the context, then reopen the page once before any save. If the display remains inconsistent, keep the existing tracking and contact support. |
If the datapoint uses a specific gateway different from its component’s, or if the same address exists in several installations of the project, have the suitable path confirmed by support. This page alone does not let you infer which physical installation provides a measurement.
Why is the Save button greyed out?
Section titled “Why is the Save button greyed out?”Save is disabled when no change has been prepared, during a save or when the selection exceeds the displayed limit.
- Wait for any save in progress to finish.
- Check that a change you wanted did change the selection: checking then unchecking the same address can return to the initial state.
- If the limit is exceeded, follow the next question.
What should I do when the selection exceeds the limit?
Section titled “What should I do when the selection exceeds the limit?”Remove the tracking that is no longer needed until you are back under the limit shown by Selected address count (…) exceeds the limit (…).
- Check the global counter: it includes the rows hidden by the filters and the addresses outside components.
- Clear the search and go back to All tags.
- Remove only the tracking that is no longer needed.
- If all the addresses are needed, contact support to have the project’s capacity confirmed.
Why did many boxes get checked when I wanted to filter?
Section titled “Why did many boxes get checked when I wanted to filter?”A chip in the Tags section selects the addresses of its whole tag, even when some rows are hidden; only the tag drop-down list filters the display. This difference can also explain a higher counter than expected.
To filter, use the drop-down list. Before any save, Cancel restores the initial selection; after a partial result, first check the state read back, as described below.
What should I do if a save fails, stays unconfirmed or only partly succeeds?
Section titled “What should I do if a save fails, stays unconfirmed or only partly succeeds?”Read back the selection actually saved before any correction, because some gateways may already have received the new selection.
- Error saving for gateway … indicates a save failure for this gateway, not a proven hardware fault.
- A message such as 1 gateway(s) updated, 1 error(s). (fictitious example) announces a partial result. Cancel does not undo the saves already made: the whole is neither fully saved nor fully cancelled.
- Keep the messages and note the selection you wanted to get.
- Wait for Saving… to finish, without clicking Save repeatedly.
- Reopen Data logging → KNX addresses, wait for it to load, then check the addresses actually shown as selected, with no search or tag filter.
- If the selection read back is consistent and the difference to correct is certain, prepare only the necessary correction and save once. Otherwise, go straight to support.
- If the error persists, if no success message appears, or if the selection read back remains uncertain, contact support before any other change.
Closing the page discards the unsaved preparation, without cancelling saves that already succeeded. If you need to restore an earlier selection that you no longer know, have it confirmed by support.
Why did a non-BOSS-nX address disappear after reloading?
Section titled “Why did a non-BOSS-nX address disappear after reloading?”The Non-BOSS-nX addresses section only shows the addresses currently tracked outside components: an address that was unchecked and saved may no longer appear there. This section offers no free input to restore a removed address. Contact support, stating the address and the action taken.
Why does no measurement appear after a successful save?
Section titled “Why does no measurement appear after a successful save?”A missing curve does not, on its own, identify a gateway, collection or history availability problem. Check the configuration first, then the display:
- Reopen the configuration and check the address that was kept.
- In Analytics, Trends tab, check the datapoints, the period and the chart generation.
If these checks have already been done, send them to support without repeating them. For the conditions of activation, capacity, retention or recovery of data after a removal, also contact support: the unlimited display does not replace a confirmation of the project’s entitlements.
Contact support
Section titled “Contact support”Write to support@can-nx.com with the product, the building, the component or address concerned, the exact message and the attempts already made. A screenshot without sensitive data can help. Do not send any password or access key.
