Boss’nX, building supervision: Analytics page, Trends tab, with the View analytics permission
In Boss’nX, the Trends tab of the Analytics page charts the measurements recorded for the tracked datapoints of a building, over the period you choose. It is intended for the supervision’s users, administrators and installers. The measurements offered depend on the datapoints tracked for this project.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Your role has the View analytics permission in the building supervision: see roles and their permissions.
- The datapoints you want to view are tracked for this project. To choose the KNX addresses to record in history, an authorized administrator or installer follows the selection of addresses to log, in Menu → Data logging.
Open the building’s analytics
Section titled “Open the building’s analytics”- Open the relevant supervision. From a hypervision, enter the building supervision.
- Click Analytics in the header bar, or open Menu → Analytics. On a tablet or phone, Menu is at the right of the bottom bar.
- At the top of the page, check that the Trends tab is selected. The other tab, Chart’nX, is not covered here.
The settings bar brings together Datapoints, Time range, Query precision, Aggregation and the Generate chart button. The result is shown below it, in Chart preview.
From a component’s history, the Analytics button, when available, opens this page with the component’s tracked datapoints already selected. The chart may then be requested automatically over the last seven days, today included. Check the selected datapoints and the period displayed.
Select the datapoints
Section titled “Select the datapoints”- Click Datapoints. The Available datapoints menu opens, with the selected / available counter.
- Search for a datapoint by its name, its component, its location or its identifier. Fictitious example: “Lobby temperature”.
- Expand the building parts, floors and zones with the small chevrons, then check the datapoints you want. The box to the right of a group selects its datapoints; the counter next to it shows the selection in this group.
- Click Done. The number of selected datapoints is shown on the Datapoints button.
In this menu:
- Select all and Deselect all act on the datapoints matching the current filters. To clear the whole selection, go back to All, clear the search, then click Deselect all.
- Checked shows the selected datapoints. The search also filters this view: clear it to see all the checked datapoints again. If you remove the last datapoint, the list returns to All.
- Favorites contains the selections saved in this browser; see reuse a favorite selection.
- A datapoint missing from the list is not added by entering its name in the search.
Generate the chart
Section titled “Generate the chart”- Set Time range, Query precision and Aggregation: the periods and options guide describes them.
- Click Generate chart and wait for loading to finish.
- After any change to the datapoints, the period, the aggregation or the precision, click Generate chart again to apply it.
To reuse the values in a spreadsheet, follow the CSV export.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”- Under the Chart preview title, a line states the applied period, aggregation and precision. Check them, along with the names and units of the series.
- Settings changed · generate to apply them means that the chart on screen, and therefore its export, still matches the previous request: generate it again.
- Without any change of settings, clicking Generate chart again does not necessarily fetch the measurements again.
- The chart shows recorded measurements: it replaces neither live monitoring nor a check of the device’s physical state.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Symptom | Useful checks |
|---|---|
| Analytics missing from the bar and the Menu | Check the building, then have the administrator check the View analytics permission. |
| No datapoints match your filters. | Clear the search and choose All. If the datapoint is still missing, have it confirmed that it is tracked for this project; do not change its addresses at random. |
| Generate chart grayed out | Check at least one datapoint: on hover, Select at least one datapoint before generating a chart. reminds you. Wait for any loading to finish and check that no message reports missing project information. |
| Project information is missing. Reload the page or contact your administrator. | Reload the page once and check the building context. If the message persists, contact the administrator. |
| No data to display yet. after generation | Check the datapoints, the dates and the times. Try a period in which a measurement is expected, then generate again. This message only concerns the datapoints and the period requested. |
| Unable to load datapoint values. Please try again later. | Check your session and try again once. If the failure persists, note the message and the parameters used. |
Why does a visible component have no measurements in analytics?
Section titled “Why does a visible component have no measurements in analytics?”Only the datapoints tracked for this project appear in analytics, even if the component is in the building. Go back to All without a search, then have the tracking of the datapoint checked.
Can I get an automatic diagnosis or all the archives?
Section titled “Can I get an automatic diagnosis or all the archives?”For a diagnosis, first display the data, then click AI Diagnostic, next to Export to CSV: the analysis covers the displayed series. The button stays greyed out while no data is displayed. For the archives, have support confirm their availability, their scope and the applicable retention period for your installation. Do not infer them from the presence of a chart.
Contact support
Section titled “Contact support”If the problem persists after these checks, write to support@can-nx.com with the building, the component, the datapoint, the period, the message shown and the attempts made. A screenshot without sensitive data can help; never share a password or an access key.
