Create and reuse datapoint favorites in Boss’nX analytics

Boss’nX, building supervision: Analytics page, Trends tab, Favorites segment of the Datapoints menu

In the Trends tab of the Analytics page, a favorite stores a name and a selection of datapoints in this browser, so that you can apply it again in one click. It stores neither the period, nor the chart options, nor a copy of the measurements. Favorites are used with the permission to view analytics, in the building’s supervision.

  1. Open the analytics of the right building, then Datapoints. In All, clear the search if necessary and check the datapoints you want.
  2. Check the selection counter. Use Checked without a search to review the datapoints you kept.
  3. Open the Favorites segment of the menu, then click Create favorite, with the small plus sign.
  4. Fill in Favorite name…, for example “Reception temperatures” in this fictitious example. Choose a name that lets you recognize the context.
  5. Click Save, or press Enter. Cancel or Escape abandons the creation before it is saved.

Create favorite and Save remain unavailable without a selection; when you hover over Create favorite, Select datapoints first reminds you. A name made only of spaces does not allow the favorite to be created.

  1. In Favorites, click the name you want.
  2. If no selection is in progress, its datapoints that are still available are selected directly.
  3. If the Apply favorite box appears, choose Add to combine its datapoints with your selection, Replace to use its datapoints instead, or Cancel to keep the current selection.
  4. Choose the period and the options, then click Generate chart. Applying a favorite does not request new data.

The Active marker means that the available datapoints of the favorite are included in your current selection, which may also contain other datapoints. It only concerns the selection: it indicates neither that a piece of equipment has been activated nor that all the expected measurements exist.

  1. In All or Checked, prepare the new selection and check it without any leftover search.
  2. Open Favorites. To the right of the favorite you want, click the pencil Replace with current selection.
  3. Read the Update favorite confirmation, then choose Update. Cancel keeps the previous version.

This operation replaces the stored datapoints and keeps the name. The pencil is unavailable if no datapoint is selected. To get another name without losing your selection, create a new favorite with this name, check it, then delete the old one if needed.

  1. In Favorites, click the Delete this favorite trash icon.
  2. Read the name in Delete favorite.
  3. Choose Cancel to keep it or Delete to permanently remove this saved selection.

Deleting only removes the saved selection: the equipment and its measurements stay in place, and actions performed on the equipment are not undone. To get a deleted favorite back, recreate its selection.

  • After a creation, the name appears with its number of datapoints. Reopen the analytics in this same browser to check that the favorite is found again.
  • After a replacement, check the number of datapoints, then apply the favorite and check the selection.
  • After applying a favorite, go back to Checked and clear the search to see the datapoints actually selected. A datapoint that has become unavailable is not restored by the favorite.
  • After a deletion, check that the name has disappeared from the list.

Why is my favorite missing on another computer?

Section titled “Why is my favorite missing on another computer?”

It is saved in the browser used to create it, without synchronization with the account, between devices or between browsers. Clearing the browser data can remove the favorites. To keep values, export them to CSV: a favorite does not back up the measurements.

Why does my favorite contain fewer datapoints than before?

Section titled “Why does my favorite contain fewer datapoints than before?”

Hover over it to read its datapoints: Unavailable data point indicates a datapoint that is not available in the current context. Check the building, then the datapoints in All without a search. The stored number and the selection that can actually be applied may differ.

The search bar filters the datapoints, not the list of favorites. Open Favorites to choose the name directly.

Why is the curve old when the favorite is Active?

Section titled “Why is the curve old when the favorite is Active?”

A favorite is not a saved measurement result. Check the datapoints and the period, then click Generate chart.

If the favorite is still missing in the original browser, or if the expected datapoints remain unavailable after these checks, write to support@can-nx.com with the building, the favorite name and the steps already tried. Do not share any login secret.
