Boss’nX, component detail: History panel, with the permission to view logs

The History panel in the detail of a Boss’nX component lists the events recorded for its datapoints, with the value, the author or source and the time. When a KNX command address of the component is monitored, it also shows the events seen on the bus for this address.

Intended for users, administrators and installers with the permission to view logs, in a standalone supervision or in one opened from the hypervision. To view an entire zone or floor, use their history instead.

  1. From Building, By floor tab, open the zone, then the component detail.
  2. Click History, at the top right above its large card; its tooltip is Show logs history.
  3. Check the component name under the History title, in the panel on the right.
  4. Wait for the entries to load.

Each entry shows the datapoint concerned, the recorded value when available, an author or source label and the timestamp. Entries are grouped by day, most recent first.

  1. In Search…, enter a datapoint label, a value or a displayed author.
  2. To limit the entries to certain datapoints, select one or more buttons bearing their names.
  3. Click a datapoint again to remove it from the selection. All removes the datapoint selection; also clear the search to see all the loaded entries again.
  4. If some filters are hidden, use +… to show the following ones.

The counters show the number of entries available for each datapoint; a datapoint with a zero counter cannot be selected. A text search does not necessarily recalculate these counters.

To chart the monitored measurements over a period, use the panel’s Analytics button when it is available, then follow selecting datapoints and generating the chart.

The Show KNX command switch may appear when a KNX command address of the component is monitored and recognized in this context. It is turned on when the panel opens.

  1. Leave it on to include the additional entries marked KNX.
  2. Turn it off to hide these entries.
  3. Turn it on again to show them again. The filter counters adapt to the KNX entries hidden or shown.

An entry marked KNX shows an event of the monitored command address, without identifying its author in this panel. Its value appears in an orange badge.

The panel searches for these KNX entries over the last seven days, without a choice of period. The other loaded logs may cover a different period.

A log entry may show Seen on bus, followed by a time, when it is matched with a KNX event of the same datapoint with a similar value and time.

This marker remains visible on the log entry when you turn off Show KNX command: the switch only hides the separate KNX entries.

The matching does not identify with certainty the person who triggered the event or the physical result obtained. To check an action, view the relevant status feedback.

Close the panel with the cross, Esc or a click in the darkened area outside it. In the demo, the top banner may hide the cross; in that case, use Esc or the darkened area.

Reopening History reloads the entries and resets the search, the filters and the KNX switch.

If an expected entry is missing or the KNX switch is absent:

  1. Check the open component.
  2. Clear Search… and choose All.
  3. Turn Show KNX command on again if it is present.
  4. Close and reopen the panel.
  5. If an expected KNX entry is still missing, have the monitored command address, the access context and the period searched checked.

The absence of the switch or of an entry does not prove that no command was sent. Some loading errors for KNX entries may leave the other logs available.

Contact support@can-nx.com if these checks are unsuccessful, to find an archive or learn the applicable retention period, or to establish precisely the origin or the result of an action. Give the datapoint, the date you are looking for and the filters you tried.
