KNX .knxproj import and dictionary in Boss’nX: troubleshooting

.knxproj file rejected, project password refused, analysis that never finishes, locked step, empty address inventory or a dictionary that will not save: here are the causes and the checks to run in KNX commissioning, in the building’s supervision, with the Manage topology permission. For the normal path, follow the .knxproj file import, then the dictionary configuration.

Why is the .knxproj file rejected?

If no file name appears, or if Invalid file. Please select a .knxproj file is displayed, choose the ETS project file with the .knxproj extension. Renaming another type of file does not turn it into a compatible project.

What if the project password is refused?

Please enter the project password. means that the protection box is checked but the field is empty. If the project is protected, enter its password in the interface; otherwise, check the intended protection before trying again.

If a message indicates a protected project or an incorrect password:

1. If Retry is offered, click it to return to the preparation.
2. Check that the selected file is the right one. After an analysis failure, you may need to choose it again.
3. If necessary, check Password protected project and enter the password in the field provided.
4. Click Analyze.

If the confirmed password is still refused, contact support with the message and the context. Never send this password, neither in your message nor in a screenshot.

Why does the upload or the analysis not finish?

Server connection failed., HTTP Error: … and Failed to interpret the parsing result. relate to processing the file: they do not indicate a fault in the KNX installation.

1. Note the message and the step concerned: file upload, decoding or analysis.
2. Wait for the current processing to finish before any new attempt.
3. If an explicit failure lets you resume, check your usual access to the supervision, then retry with the same confirmed file.
4. If the processing stays displayed without a result, do not start more imports. Close hides the panel without cancelling the work in progress.

If the failure persists or the result remains unknown, contact support and state the time of the attempt. The progress display tells you nothing about a guaranteed processing time, a maximum file size or compatibility with an ETS version: if your project seems to hit a limit, have these points confirmed by support.

Why is Dictionary or Structure inaccessible?

Dictionary requires an available import; Structure requires an available classification. Going back to a locked step does not start these operations.

1. Check that Import has finished, then that the expected addresses are present.
2. In Dictionary, define or load the suitable rules. Finish any scope selection.
3. Click Save now and wait for the result.
4. If a save or classification message appears, deal with it using the questions below before going to Structure.

Building remains accessible without a KNX import, for a manual organization, like the Building organisation page. If this step is missing, or if KNX commissioning does not appear in the Menu, have the supervision context and the permissions checked.

Why does no address appear in the inventory?

Message	Action
No raw KNX data available. Re-import the .knxproj to show the inventory.	Rerun the import of the confirmed file and check the addresses, then save the dictionary to redo the classification. Do not reset the topology to get this inventory.
No group addresses imported yet.	Check the supervision, the chosen file and that its import has finished. If the confirmed file contains the expected addresses but the inventory stays empty, contact support.
No results for ”…”.	Clear the search, then try an address or part of a known name. This message relates to the search text: the address may still have been imported.
No addresses found for this line.	Remove the filter with Clear to see the complete inventory again. Then check the keywords, the CMD/FB role, the exclusions and the scope of this row.

What does Not yet recognized mean?

Not yet recognized addresses may be present before the first classification. This status describes recognition by the dictionary, not the state of the devices: it does not mean that they are offline. After a successful save, examine the names of these addresses to adjust the relevant rules.

What if a scope shows not found after a reimport?

After a reimport, a scope chip may show not found. The application then reports that the keywords of the rows concerned are no longer searched. Do not assume that the old branch has been automatically replaced by its equivalent in the new project.

• Re-pick lets you select the branches or addresses of the current project, then click Confirm.
• Clear removes this restriction and widens the search. Use it only if that is the result you want.

Why does the dictionary not save?

With Unable to retrieve the KNX dictionary from bossnx., do not load a default template or reset on the assumption that the template is empty. Have the loading confirmed before overwriting existing rules.

With Failed — Retry, Auto-save failed. or Failed to save dictionary.:

1. If Search scope is open, finish it with Confirm or Cancel.
2. Leave the last field you typed in.
3. Click Save now once, then wait for Saving… to finish.
4. Check the matches and the messages.

If the error comes back, note the changes you want in your description of the problem and contact support before leaving the page or replacing the template.

Why does the structure not apply the new rules?

Reclassification failed (the dictionary was saved). Keeping the current tree. announces two separate results: the rules are saved, but the displayed structure has not been updated. Do not create components from this old structure on the assumption that it applies the new rules.

1. Check whether a message asks for a reimport.
2. Otherwise, click Save now once.
3. If the classification fails again, contact support.

Why is the import finished without components?

Importing the file prepares the addresses; components are created afterwards from Structure. Check the inventory, then the classification in Dictionary, and go on to the review described in creating components from the KNX structure.

Why does an empty scope not exclude the datapoint?

Confirming a scope selection with everything unchecked removes the scope restriction; the datapoint is not excluded. To disable its recognition, remove its recognition row or its keywords. This change does not delete a component that has already been saved.
