Reolink in Link’nX: control a camera and react to its detections
Link’nXAdministratorInstaller
Link’nX web: Reolink actions and triggers of a declared camera
A Reolink action in Link’nX controls one or more Reolink cameras: floodlight, brightness, siren, infrared, PTZ position or reboot. A Reolink trigger launches a scenario when a camera detects motion, a person, a vehicle or a pet.
Intended for the authorized installer or administrator. To map the camera to KNX group addresses, follow the Reolink gateway guide instead.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- The camera has gone through the Reolink declaration. Check the project, the gateway, the camera and its channel.
- The functions depend on the model and its configuration: a command or an event offered in the list does not confirm that the model has it.
Prepare a command
Section titled “Prepare a command”- Open Actions → Add. In Select an action type, choose reolink: this choice appears in lowercase in the selector. Then fill in Name.
- In Reolink camera, check the devices concerned. Select all selects the whole set offered; check each target before a siren, movement or reboot command.
- In Reolink command, choose the desired function, then fill in the requested value using the table below. After changing the command, review the value.
- Click the floppy disk at the bottom right and wait for Success!.
- To automate it, add the action to the intended scenario. For editing or duplicating, follow the actions guide, in particular the confirmation of affected scenarios.
| Command | Value to fill in |
|---|---|
| Floodlight on, Floodlight off | No additional value. |
| Set floodlight brightness | Command value, integer from 0 to 100. Zero is a valid value, different from an empty field. |
| Siren on, Siren off | No additional value. |
| IR on, IR off | No additional value. Enabling allows the infrared to operate automatically, without forcing it to stay on permanently. |
| Go to PTZ preset | Command value, integer number of a preconfigured position, at least 1. Check the same function on each selected camera. |
| Reboot | No additional value; prepare this action only if the reboot and its consequences are planned. |
Please enter a value within the allowed range. requires you to check the range and that the value is an integer; a PTZ position of zero is not valid.
A brightness set to zero does not replace an explicit Floodlight off request. To switch the floodlight off, choose this command, then check the result on the hardware.
Trigger a scenario on a detection
Section titled “Trigger a scenario on a detection”- Open Triggers → Add. In Select a trigger type, choose reolink, then fill in Name.
- In Reolink camera, select a device.
- In Event type, choose Motion, Person, Vehicle or Pet. Pet detection corresponds to the supported dogs and cats.
- Save with the floppy disk and wait for Success!.
- Associate the trigger with the relevant scenario, with its actions, then check the scenario’s activation and conditions.
The scenario reacts to a new transition from no detection to detection. A detection that stays active does not cause a new execution at each check, and a state already active at startup does not on its own count as a new detection. The checks are periodic: do not rely on an instant reaction to a very brief presence.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”- Find and reopen the action to review the targets, the command and its value. Reopen the trigger to review the camera and the event.
- During an authorized test, check the physical result on the camera: floodlight, siren, infrared or position. Success! only indicates that the item is saved; preparing an action does not run it.
- For a detection, cause a new detection and check the scenario’s reaction.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Symptom | Checks |
|---|---|
| The command does not save | Check the selected devices, the command and its value when it is required. For PTZ, confirm an existing position number greater than or equal to 1, rather than an arbitrary number entered to pass validation. |
| The command is saved but has no effect | Check the address, the HTTPS port, the account and the channel of the declaration, then that the hardware has the function. For infrared, distinguish automatic enabling from the on state. Avoid repeated reboots or commands to work around an uncertain result. |
| The scenario does not react | Check the channel, the detection type and its availability or configuration in the camera, then the association with the scenario, its activation and its conditions. Distinguish a persistent presence from a new detection. |
If these checks have already failed, contact support@can-nx.com with the model, the event, the scenario and the tests done, without credentials or private images.
