Create a BluOS action in Link’nX: playback, volume, input and grouping

Link’nX web: Bluos-type actions for declared BluOS players, to be used in a scenario
A BluOS action in Link’nX sends a command to one or more BluOS players: playback, volume, modes, preset, input selection, adding or removing a secondary player in a group, or a system command. Once saved, the action is used in a scenario.
Intended for administrators and installers authorized to prepare actions. To have a KNX object control the player directly, use the BluOS KNX gateway table instead. For a Denon/HEOS player, follow the Denon/HEOS actions guide.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- The players are declared in BluOS, in the right project and on the right gateway.
- For an input, a preset or a group, you know the value confirmed for your player: input type, preset identifier, IP and port of the secondary player.
Create the action
Section titled “Create the action”- In the Link’nX navigation, open Actions, then Add.
- In Select an action type, choose Bluos. In the device navigation, the card is named BluOS.
- Fill in Name, at most 64 characters. Fictitious example: “Pause reception player”.
- In BluOS device, check the target players. Select all checks all the players offered. Close the list with Esc and check the selection: the same command targets each chosen device.
- Choose the BluOS command. The fields that appear depend on the command: fill them in using the following sections.
- Click the round floppy disk at the bottom right and wait for Success!.
To run the action in a schedule, follow adding the action to the scenario.
Set playback, volume and modes
Section titled “Set playback, volume and modes”| Command | Setting in the action |
|---|---|
| Play, Pause, Stop, Next, Previous | No value field: the command requests the corresponding operation from the player. |
| Set play/pause | Command value: integer, 1 for play, 0 for pause. |
| Toggle play/pause | No value: inverts the state. To force a pause, use Pause or Set play/pause with 0. |
| Set volume | Integer from 0 to 100. Zero is a valid value; an empty field is not the same as zero. |
| Volume up, Volume down | No value field: increase or decrease by a 2 dB step, not the choice of a final level. |
| Mute, Unmute | No value: mutes or restores the sound, without choosing an audio source. |
| Set shuffle | Integer, 1 to enable, 0 to disable. |
| Set repeat | Integer, 0 for the queue, 1 for the track, 2 to disable. Here, zero therefore does not disable repeat. |
| Load preset | Integer identifier from 0 to 255, matching a preset actually prepared on the player. |
| Next preset, Previous preset | No value: requests the preset change. |
Entering a number within the allowed range does not create the corresponding preset. To prepare the presets in the player’s app or identify the one to use, have support confirm the steps and the identifier that apply to your model.
Select an input
Section titled “Select an input”- In BluOS command, choose Select input.
- In Command value, enter the text input type confirmed for your player. The help gives the example “spdif-2”, which does not apply to all models.
- Save with the floppy disk.
This field is a text field: entering “2” does not necessarily select an old numeric input number 2. If you only know a numeric index, have support confirm the value, giving the model, the available version and the desired input.
Add or remove a secondary player in a group
Section titled “Add or remove a secondary player in a group”- In BluOS device, select the primary player of the group to modify.
- In BluOS command, choose Group (add slave) or Ungroup (remove slave).
- Fill in Secondary player IP with the IPv4 of the player to attach or remove.
- Check Secondary player port, suggested as 11000, and enter the confirmed port of this player. It may differ from that of the primary.
- Save with the floppy disk.
The checked devices are the primary players that receive the request; the IP and port fields designate the secondary. Checking several devices therefore does not group them together. If your goal involves several groups or several primaries, have the organization confirmed before execution.
Ungroup (remove slave) requests the removal of the secondary: its previous source, volume and audio state are not necessarily restored.
Clear the queue, ring the chime or reboot the player
Section titled “Clear the queue, ring the chime or reboot the player”Clear queue, Doorbell and Reboot have no value field. They clear the play queue, play the doorbell chime or reboot the player as soon as the action is executed: they are not diagnostic buttons without consequences.
- Check the target players and the expected effect before using them.
- Reboot may interrupt playback and make the player temporarily unavailable. Do not repeat this command to check that it was received.
- Clear queue offers no restoration of the previous queue.
Edit an existing action
Section titled “Edit an existing action”Open the action’s Edit pencil, check the fields after any change of command, save with the floppy disk and wait for Updated!. The action type remains read-only during editing.
If the action is used by scenarios, read Scenario affected by this change: or Scenarios affected by this change:, then choose SAVE or CANCEL, as described in the validation of changes.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”- Find the action in the list and reopen its Edit pencil.
- Review the devices, the command and its settings. For a group, review the selected primary and the two secondary fields.
- After an authorized execution, check the effect on the players concerned, for example the resulting group. Success! confirms that the action is saved, not that playback actually happened.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- Please enter a value within the allowed range.: review the command and its range in the table. The numeric settings are integers; 0 is accepted by some commands, with a meaning specific to each one.
- Command or player missing: check the Bluos type and the player declaration. Select input, Group (add slave) and Ungroup (remove slave) belong to the action: the BluOS KNX gateway table does not offer them.
- Action saved but no effect: reopen it and check the devices and settings. Then check the IP, the port, the audio source and the expected preset or input with the administrator.
Contact support
Section titled “Contact support”If these checks are already done, write to support@can-nx.com with the action name, the players, their model, the command, the expected result and the tests carried out.
