Emergy’nX tariff-based control: off-peak, peak and red peak hours

Emergy’nX: Energy Control, Tariff-based control section of a real project
In Energy Control, the Tariff-based control section of Emergy’nX defines the equipment controlled during the Off-Peak Hour, Peak Hour and Red Peak Hour periods: commands sent on enter and on exit, list order and, during off-peak hours, delays between switch-ons. During off-peak hours, the listed equipment is activated to take advantage of the reduced rate; during peak hours, it is restricted.
For the project’s installer or administrator. The contract’s prices and schedules are entered separately in Building Config → Power Network: adding a rule here does not define the supplier’s actual schedules.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- The authorized commands of each piece of equipment are prepared: ON/OFF addresses and values in Equipment → Control.
- The contract, the periods and the building parameters are confirmed.
- On an existing configuration, read the variants guide before changing the Season and Presence switches.
Add the equipment for a period
Section titled “Add the equipment for a period”- Open Energy Control in the project navigation. On a small screen, first open the three-line menu.
- Under Tariff-based control, click Configure in the Off-Peak Hour, Peak Hour or Red Peak Hour card. Check the page title: Red Peak Hour concerns the peak hours of Tempo red days.
- First define any Season and Presence variants, then select the one to edit.
- Under Controlled Equipment, open Add equipment and select the name. Repeat for each device concerned.
- For each device, fill in Sent on enter and Sent on exit: choose Switch → None / ON / OFF, then the Setpoint if a value is planned for this equipment.
- Check the order using the row number and the Move up / Move down arrows, according to the rules below.
- In Off-Peak Hour, set the delays if necessary.
- Click Save at the bottom of the list and wait for the … thresholds saved successfully. message for the period.
The switch and the setpoint are independent: None does not cancel an entered setpoint. Leave the setpoint empty if none is planned; 0 is a numeric value. Have the scale and the unit of any unknown setpoint confirmed.
Set the order and delays
Section titled “Set the order and delays”| Period | Role of the order | Delays |
|---|---|---|
| Off-Peak Hour | Configured switch-on order. | Global delay, under Delay between equipment: wait between items of equipment, in whole minutes from zero. Each row also has its own Delay after this equipment. |
| Peak Hour and Red Peak Hour | Comfort priority: the first equipment is restricted last, and its comfort is restored first when the solar surplus allows it. | No switch-on delay: these delays are specific to off-peak hours. |
Delay after this equipment is the wait after this device before the next one. Left empty, the field uses the global delay, shown as a hint. A value of 0 replaces the global delay with a wait of zero for this row. Enter a non-negative whole duration.
The power shown next to the name, followed by average or max, uses the configured average operating power when it exists, otherwise the maximum power. It is the value used by the optimizer, not an instantaneous measurement. To review it, open the equipment form.
Ceiling, margin and grid tolerance
Section titled “Ceiling, margin and grid tolerance”In Off-Peak Hour, a box may show Ceiling and remaining margin, possibly with approximate value. These power indications are informative; they do not guarantee that the next equipment can start under real conditions. If the margin seems inconsistent with the installation, have the context and the parameters checked rather than raising a limit to get it switched on.
The grid draw accepted per tariff is set in Energy Control → Optimization → Grid draw tolerated per tariff (W). The fields and their limits are described in the solar surplus guide. To limit grid draw on red days, set the Red day value of this field: the Red Peak Hour card has no dedicated checkbox.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”- Go back to Energy Control, then reopen the same card and the same variant.
- Read back the saved order, commands and delays.
- During the period, a green indicator on a row shows that the rule applies to this equipment. Watch the device itself to confirm the physical action.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Situation | Action |
|---|---|
| ON or OFF is grayed out | Have the address and the value of the corresponding command checked in Equipment → Control. A correctly configured zero for OFF is a value: do not replace it without reason. |
| A charger is grayed out in Add equipment | If it shows managed by optimizer, adjust its IRVE options. Do not disable its automatic management only to make it selectable in this list. |
| The equipment is no longer offered for adding | The list hides equipment already present in the current variant. The Delete cross next to its name removes the row from this rule, without deleting the device from the inventory. The removal takes effect immediately in the form; Save keeps the change. |
| Failed to save … thresholds. | Keep your parameters and check what is read back for the same period and the same variant. Only the success message attests the save, not the presence of the values on screen. |
| The rule is saved, but nothing happens | Check the tariff period concerned, the season/presence variants, the order and the delays, the commands planned on enter and on exit, then the device’s links. |
If the problem persists after these checks, contact support@can-nx.com with the project, the period, the equipment, the time and the attempts made.
