Configure summer/winter and presence/absence variants in Emergy’nX

Emergy’nXAdministratorInstaller

Emergy’nX: Energy Control, Season and Presence switches of the scenarios

In Energy Control, load shedding, optimization and tariff rule scenarios can have different parameters depending on the season (summer/winter) or on occupant presence (presence/absence). Each combination forms a variant that you prepare in the editor. Choosing a tab is for editing a variant: it does not force the season or the presence of the installation.

Intended for administrators and installers in charge of energy control.

  • To use an axis, the season or presence must be known to the installation: fill in the address and values of the corresponding KNX feedback with the Special conditions guide.
  • The parameters planned for each variant are defined.
  1. Open Energy Control, then Configure on the desired card: Load Shedding, Optimization, Off-Peak Hour, Peak Hour or Red Peak Hour.
  2. Choose the necessary axes before filling in the variants:
SwitchDisabledEnabled
SeasonThe screen shows All seasons. The Summer and Winter tabs appear.
PresenceThe screen shows Present and absent. The Presence and Absence tabs appear.

With both axes, each variant combines a season and a presence, for example Winter then Absence: four variants in total.

  1. Select the desired tab or, with both axes, the combination.
  2. Complete the levels and equipment for the power thresholds, or the list and commands for the tariff rules.
  3. Move on to the other necessary variants and fill them in. A variant that has never been filled in opens empty: it does not take over the commands of another.
  4. Click Save: at the top of the page for Load Shedding/Optimization, at the bottom of the list for the tariff rules.

Switching tabs lets you view and edit another variant while the form keeps what you entered in the previous ones, but it saves nothing. To simply view another season, use the Summer or Winter tab, without disabling the Season switch.

Wait for the success message, then reopen the same scenario and reread each of the relevant variants. Also check that no signal-not-configured warning is shown under the enabled axes; actual reception of the season or presence feedback is checked on the bus.

Change the axes on an existing configuration

Section titled “Change the axes on an existing configuration”

The Season and Presence switches change how the variants are organized; they are not simply used to hide their tabs. A change may keep only one set of levels or equipment and remove the others from the form. Note the parameters to keep before changing this organization.

In Load Shedding and Optimization, disabling an axis may open Keep the active scenario and discard the others?:

  • Read the text: it names the content kept and the variants removed. The word “active” there refers to the variant kept in the form, not to the physical state of the installation.
  • Cancel keeps the current organization.
  • Continue applies the indicated change in the form. Then click Save only if this result is intended.

This confirmation does not appear in every case. The Off-Peak Hour, Peak Hour and Red Peak Hour rules may reorganize their list as soon as a switch is changed, without a window. So do not count on this window to protect the other variants.

Re-enabling an axis does not bring back the removed variants. If you changed a switch by mistake without saving, do not click Save: reopen the card and check the parameters read back. You will also lose the other changes in the form that had not been saved.

Summer/Winter signal not configured in House Config… or Presence/Absence signal not configured in House Config…: the strategy remains inactive as long as the season or presence is unknown. The warning appears when the corresponding feedback has no address in the Special conditions. Have this link checked by the person responsible for the installation. Once the address is saved, the warning disappears even if no signal has been received yet: also check the feedback on the bus. Do not invent an address and do not change the variants at random to make the message disappear.

A variant is empty: check the Season/Presence combination and its saved content. A new variant must be configured if it is needed.

Contact support@can-nx.com if known content is missing after reopening, if an axis change was saved without a copy of the previous parameters (no automatic restoration is guaranteed), or if the setup has already been checked and the procedure remains uncertain. Give the project, the card concerned, the enabled axis, the displayed message, and the axis changes and saves actually made.

French labels: Saison, Été / Hiver, Présence / Absence, Toutes saisons, Présent et absent, Enregistrer; the removal window shows Garder le scénario actif et perdre les autres ?, then Annuler or Continuer.
