Boss’nX alarm rules: find and delete alarm datapoints

Boss’nXAdministratorInstaller

Boss’nX, supervision: Alarm rules page, Existing alarms view

The Existing alarms view of the Alarm rules page lists the KNX alarm datapoints that carry a given tag and lets you delete in bulk those that are no longer needed. It acts on the configuration of the components, not on events: to view or delete triggered alarms, use the alarm history and its deletion procedure.

Intended for the administrator or installer authorized to manage components.

  1. In the supervision concerned, open Menu → Alarm rules.
  2. In Tag, choose the tag carried by the alarm datapoints you are looking for, then click Existing alarms.
  3. Check Alarms carrying this tag. Expand the location and the component, or use Expand all.
  4. Read the name, the severity and the condition shown. For a comparison, check the partner: a question mark in its place calls for a check before any change.
  5. For a truncated condition or one that is hard to interpret, have the administrator check the datapoint’s parameters.

The tag searched for is that of the alarm itself. It may differ from the tag of the measurement that was used to create it. If No alarm carries this tag. appears, check this choice and the supervision.

Deletion removes the alarm datapoint from the component, including its reading when it offers one: it is not limited to an event in the history. This procedure offers no restore button.

  1. Check each datapoint to delete and its possible uses in other rules.
  2. Deletable datapoints are checked by default. Uncheck those to keep.
  3. A Command point — not deletable here row remains unavailable: this procedure does not delete a datapoint that also carries a command. Have an authorized person handle its setting in the component editor.
  4. The boxes of the locations and components act on their deletable datapoints, including in collapsed branches. Collapse all does not empty the selection.
  5. Check Delete selection (…). An empty selection or one of more than five hundred datapoints prevents sending: reduce the batch if needed.

Each view keeps its own choices when you switch between Create and Existing alarms. Changing the tag or collapsing a branch does not reset all the boxes: check the number selected before deleting.

  1. Click Delete selection (…).
  2. In Confirm deletion, check the number of alarms and components. Only the first five rows are detailed, with a counter for the following ones.
  3. If a warning reports that a comparison alarm references a selected datapoint, choose Back: the deletion would leave that alarm without a target. Have these dependencies checked before deleting.
  4. To keep the datapoints, use Back before sending. To apply the checked selection, click Delete.
  5. Wait for Report, then read the number deleted and each error before clicking Close.

After the report is closed, the tag and the view remain selected. Check the datapoints still present, then reopen the same context to check the saved result.

The procedure also announces that the associated active alarms are closed and the gateway is updated. Check this in the history.

The report associates each error with the component and the datapoint’s label. The messages may in particular indicate a component not found, a datapoint not found, a command point not deletable here or a write failure. Note this information without sending any password or access secret.

After a partial failure, some of the datapoints in the batch may have been deleted. Check the current state before a new attempt and limit it to the items still present whose deletion is still wanted.

Contact support@can-nx.com if the request failed, if the summary remains uncertain, if the expected information remains present or inconsistent in the history, or if the course of action for a dependency or a condition remains uncertain. Give the context, the selection, the report and the checks already made.

French labels: Alarmes existantes, Alarmes portant ce tag, Suppression, Supprimer la sélection (…), Confirmer la suppression, Retour, Supprimer, Rapport, Fermer. Some condition texts may remain in French in the English interface.
