Boss’nX overview: configure statistics and KNX measurements

Boss’nXAdministratorInstaller

Boss’nX, supervision dashboard in edit mode: Overview widget settings window

Under the site title, the Overview block of the Boss’nX Dashboard shows up to four statistics cards. Each card shows a value entered by hand, such as a number of places, or the measurement of a KNX datapoint, whose group address and DPT are filled in automatically.

Intended for the administrator or installer authorized to edit a supervision’s dashboard. For the photo in the same block, follow the image management.

  • You have the right to edit Dashboard in this supervision.
  • The Overview widget is displayed and allowed for the role; see the dashboard rights and layout.
  • You are working on a wide screen: the settings may be inaccessible on a narrow screen.
  1. Open the expected supervision, then Dashboard.
  2. Click the Edit layout pencil in the header. If needed, check Overview in Visible widgets.
  3. In the block bearing the site title, find the image area, even if it shows Visuel indisponible (Visual unavailable).
  4. Click the small round white button with an orange settings symbol, at the top left of this image area. The symbol has two horizontal lines and their small sliders.
  5. The Overview widget settings window opens. Scroll its content to reach the statistics and the icons.

This window is used to change the statistics. It states that the title, the location and the weather are shared and not editable here. On a narrow screen, the fields are placed one below the other, the window content scrolls and the actions are at the bottom.

  1. In Statistics, click Add a stat. The maximum is four cards: the button becomes unavailable once this limit is reached.
  2. In Source, choose Manual value.
  3. Fill in Label, Unit if needed, and Static value. Fictional example: label Available desks, unit seats, value 12.
  4. In Icon, choose the pictogram. The tooltips offer Building, Occupants, System status, Activity, Temperature, Power, Battery and Usage.
  5. Save as described below.

The manual value is a text specific to this card: it is not updated from any equipment. The unit is optional and performs no conversion. Review the label and the value before presenting them to users.

  1. Add a statistic or find the one to change, then choose KNX datapoint in Source.
  2. In Choose a datapoint, use Search for a component, a datapoint, an address…. Type an equipment name, a measurement label or a group address, for example 1/2/3 (fictional example). The search expands the matching results.
  3. You can also expand the tree arrows: building part when there are several, floor, zone, equipment, then datapoint. With a single part, the tree starts at the floors. Unattached items appear under No associated building part, No floor or No zone.
  4. Click the row of the expected datapoint. Check its equipment and location to distinguish measurements with the same name. The selected row is marked in blue.
  5. Check the automatically filled fields: Label, Unit, KNX group address and DPT. The address and the DPT are read-only: if the link is not the right one, choose another datapoint.
  6. Adapt the label and the icon if needed. Keep a unit consistent with the measurement: renaming the unit does not convert the value.

Only datapoints available for reading and having a feedback address are offered. Do not replace the address with a guessed value.

Changing Source requires you to fill in or select the information for the new mode. If you return to the previous mode, review the fields before confirming.

  1. Review the statistics in the window.
  2. Click Save at the bottom right. The window closes and the prepared cards appear in the dashboard, which is still in edit mode.
  3. Click Finish editing, the blue floppy-disk button that replaces the pencil in the header, to save the dashboard.

Cancel or the Close cross discards the changes still in the window. After Save in the window but before Finish editing, Restore original layout returns the dashboard settings to their state at the start of editing; this action may also discard other changes in progress.

To remove a card, click its trash can to the right of the Source choice, named Remove statistic followed by its number. The card leaves the window without confirmation; you can remove all the statistics. Click Cancel to abandon these removals, or Save then Finish editing to keep them. Only the summary cards disappear: the components they were linked to are kept.

Wait for the save to finish, reopen the dashboard and check the expected cards. For a KNX measurement, check the label and the unit; a missing value, shown as —, does not represent zero.
