PoolCop KNX: connect Pool’nX to PoolCop Cloud with an API key

Pool’nXAdministratorInstaller

Can’nX Cloud, Pool’nX window: PoolCop Cloud and PoolCop (legacy) types, Authentification and pool

Pool’nX reads the state of a PoolCop and passes on to it the commands received from the KNX bus, through PoolCop Cloud and an API key of the PoolCop account. Choose the PoolCop Cloud type, save the key, then select the PoolCop.

Intended for the installer or administrator who connects a PoolCop to a KNX installation. For a Klereo controller, follow the Klereo Connect connection.

  • The gateway’s Pool’nX window is open: see open Pool’nX in Can’nX Cloud.
  • You have access to the pool’s PoolCop account to generate an API key at my.poolcop.com/profile.
  • Changing the type of pool erases the whole saved configuration: credentials, KNX addresses, options and temperature control. If the Pool’nX is already configured for another type, note its addresses first.
  1. In Type of pool, choose PoolCop Cloud.
  2. The Confirmation window shows Do you really want to change the pool type? and All your saved data will be deleted. Click Confirm.
  3. Wait for the window to reload with the PoolCop Cloud type.

Cancel restores the previous type without changing anything.

The PoolCop (legacy) type uses a Poolcopilot API key instead of a PoolCop Cloud key. Choose it only if you have such a key; it has no Selected pool list.

  1. Generate an API key on your account’s profile page, my.poolcop.com/profile. With the PoolCop Cloud type, the help icon next to Please enter your Poolcop API token opens this page.
  2. In the Pool’nX window, next to Authentification, click the button with the login icon. The Modify the login details window opens.
  3. Paste the key into Please enter your Poolcop API token.
  4. Click Save. Success! confirms the save and the window closes.

A saved key is never shown again: An API key is already saved. Enter a new key to replace it. To change the key, paste the new one and save.

  1. Back in the Pool’nX window, open the Selected pool list. Each entry shows the pool name, then the PoolCop name, separated by a chevron.
  2. Choose the PoolCop. The choice is saved immediately, with no other button.

The list stays empty as long as no key is saved. Can’nX Cloud keeps it in memory for five minutes: a PoolCop added to the account in the meantime may take a while to appear. A new key or a change of type reloads it.

  1. Open Pool Status with its double-arrow button.
  2. Check that Live values is followed by a green dot, that the Value column fills in and that Last update: shows a recent date.
  3. Note the units shown in Value: they are those of the PoolCop account, for example °C or °F, bar, kPa or psi.

Then map the KNX addresses: statuses, then the PoolCop-specific values in the PoolCop status and command table.
