Emergy’nX general meter: calculated or measured total consumption

The General Meter card in Emergy’nX defines how the building’s total consumption is obtained: by calculation, or by reading a dedicated meter over KNX or Modbus. The grid connection measurements and its tariffs are configured in the Power Network card, described in the Power network guide.

For the installer or administrator in charge of measurements, with the meter data provided by the installer.

Choose the method and fill in the meter

1. In the project concerned, open Building Config, then Configure, or Edit, on the General Meter card. On a small screen, first open the three-line menu.
2. In Total Consumption Method, choose the method planned for the installation:

Option	How it works
Total of PV + Battery + Grid	The total adds up photovoltaic production, battery and grid. No meter field appears. These measurements must be correctly configured and available: see the Production and storage guide.
Value from on-site meter	The total is read from a dedicated meter, filled in at steps 3 and 4. Choose this option only if the dedicated measurement exists: the calculation does not require you to create a fictitious address.

3. For an on-site meter, choose the Phase type in Meter Settings: Single Phase or Three Phase.
4. In Readings, choose the source of the Active Power measurement, KNX or Modbus; only the selected source is saved. With KNX, fill in the group Address and the DPT validated by the installer; the DPT suggested by default is 14.056. With Modbus, choose the measurement in Catalog value, then its unit, W or kW: the list shows the values declared for the project’s gateway, for example in the Chart’nX Modbus catalog.
5. Click Save at the bottom. Wait for Configuration saved successfully; the form stays open.

Check the result

Go back to Building Config, reopen General Meter → Edit and reread the method, then the source, the address and the DPT or the Modbus value. The success message confirms that the parameters are saved: then check the real measurement on the dashboard of the same project. The gateway reads a Modbus value every 60 s.

Troubleshooting

Symptom	Checks
The meter fields do not appear	They only appear with Value from on-site meter.
The total seems incorrect	First check the project and the saved method. In meter mode, have the dedicated measurement and its DPT checked. In calculation mode, check the production, battery and grid indications, without changing the signs or the addresses at random.
No success message, or Configuration save error	Reread the form errors, then reopen the card to see what was kept.
