Assign KNX addresses to monitoring gateways in Chart’nX

Chart’nX energy or water generator: Wire monitored addresses window, manager rights
In the Chart’nX generator, the Wire monitored addresses window assigns each KNX group address of an energy or water dashboard to the gateway that monitors it. As long as an address is not monitored by any gateway, the corresponding panel stays empty in production.
This operation modifies the project’s monitoring: it belongs to the installer or administrator in charge of this configuration. If you are blocked, follow the monitoring troubleshooting guide.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- You have the manager rights needed to apply monitoring.
- You know which KNX gateway must monitor each address.
- You have the project’s ETS file.
- The project’s monitoring capacity is sufficient.
Open the monitoring window
Section titled “Open the monitoring window”The Wire monitored addresses window may open on its own after saving the dashboard, if addresses still need to be monitored.
On an existing dashboard reopened in the generator, click Monitoring in the top bar; its accessibility label is Manage unmonitored addresses. The button checks the addresses of the displayed configuration. If it does not appear after a first creation, check the save, then reopen the existing dashboard.
When there is nothing to assign, the button shows one of these messages instead of opening the window:
- All KNX addresses in this dashboard are already monitored.: no new assignment is proposed.
- This dashboard has no KNX addresses to monitor.: check whether your meters use another protocol or whether no KNX meter is enabled.
These messages concern the dashboard configuration. The actual operation of the installation is checked on the measurements, as described in “Check the result”.
Review the proposed addresses
Section titled “Review the proposed addresses”- First read the warnings at the top of the window. If it is blocked or if Apply is missing, follow the monitoring troubleshooting guide.
- Locate each address and the associated meters. An address used by several meters may be grouped on a single row.
- Check the groups bearing the gateway names. Each address is first proposed on one gateway: confirm that this choice suits your installation.
- For an address marked not in ETS, have the installer check the address and its use before applying.
Move addresses to another gateway
Section titled “Move addresses to another gateway”- Check the rows to move. Shift-click selects a range of rows.
- Choose the gateway in Move to:, then click Move. On mobile, this choice saves you from dragging the rows.
- Check each address and its new destination.
On a computer, you can also drag a row by the dotted handle on the right to the group of another gateway. If the row is part of a selection, all the selected rows are moved.
Clear only removes the checkbox selection; the addresses remain to be applied.
Apply monitoring
Section titled “Apply monitoring”- Check After apply: … / … addresses monitored. This cap applies to the project, across all gateways.
- Review all the rows. The boxes are used for moving: Apply sends every row in the window, checked or not.
- If the assignments are correct and authorized, click Apply and wait for it to finish. When everything is accepted, the window closes and Monitoring synced successfully. appears.
The window offers the addresses to add; it is not used to remove addresses that are already monitored. If you do not want to apply all the proposed rows, choose Remind me later and have the dashboard configuration checked before resuming: unchecking rows does not exclude them from the application.
Postpone and resume
Section titled “Postpone and resume”Remind me later closes the window without applying the assignments still proposed. The dashboard may already have been saved. Assignments that succeeded during a partial attempt stay in place after closing.
To resume, reopen the saved dashboard in the generator, then click Monitoring.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”Monitoring synced successfully. confirms the monitoring configuration. Then go back to the saved dashboard, choose a period in which measurements are expected and check that the panels fill up: this check shows that a device actually sends its measurements.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- Blocked window, Apply missing or grayed out, partial failure, address not in the ETS file: follow the monitoring troubleshooting guide.
- If the target gateway, the permissions or the project capacity remain uncertain, contact support@can-nx.com with the project, the dashboard and the message. Do not send any key or access code.
