Assign, replace or remove the tag of datapoints in Boss’nX

Boss’nXAdministratorInstaller

Boss’nX, supervision: Menu → Datapoint tags, Assign datapoints window, with the rights to manage components

On the Datapoint tags page in Boss’nX, the Assign datapoints window gives a tag to chosen datapoints, removes it or replaces it, with a summary to confirm before saving. Each datapoint receives a single tag: assigning it another tag replaces the previous one.

Intended for the administrator or installer authorized to manage components. Tags may be used in the display and read-only rules of roles: check these rules before changing an assignment. To classify all untagged datapoints at once from their label, use Auto-tag instead.

  1. Open Menu → Datapoint tags, then select the tag. See viewing tags.
  2. Check its name in the detail and click Assign datapoints. Open in the assignment dialog › opens the same window.
  3. In Assign datapoints — ”…”, check the tag shown in the title.
  4. Search for a datapoint or a component with Search a datapoint or a component…. The datapoints are grouped under their component, with its location.
  5. Check a datapoint to assign this tag to it. Uncheck a datapoint that already carries this tag to remove it.

The chip on each row shows its current tag, or no tag. Be careful when checking a row that carries another tag: that tag will be replaced after saving.

The All, Non-members, Untagged and Members (…) filters apply to the currently saved assignments: they do not yet take into account the boxes you have just changed. Changing the filter or the search keeps these choices, including those that are no longer visible.

  1. Read the summary at the bottom of the window: … members after save, additions, removals and any reassignments.
  2. Click Save…. The button remains unavailable as long as no change is prepared.
  3. In Confirm changes, check the numbers. If datapoints change tag, the box shows their labels, their components and the change from the old tag to the new one.
  4. Use Back to correct the boxes, or Confirm and save to apply the changes.
  5. Wait for the window to close and for the Tags saved message.

A reassignment is also counted among the assignments: do not add it a second time when calculating the number of datapoints concerned. The members after save total matches the expected result for the selected tag.

In the selection step, click Cancel. If changes are prepared, the question Discard changes? offers Discard or Keep editing.

From the Confirm changes step, choose Back, then Cancel to abandon the choices. After Confirm and save, wait for the result: closing actions are suspended during the request.

  1. In the tag’s detail, under Assigned datapoints, expand the component and locate the row.
  2. Click the cross on the right, with the tooltip Remove the tag from ”…”. The tag is removed from this datapoint immediately, without further confirmation.
  3. Check the Tag removed message and that the row has disappeared from the tag’s list.

The datapoint and the component remain present. To reassign the tag, use Assign datapoints and follow the confirmation described above.

Check the datapoints in the tag’s detail. If needed, reopen the assignment to check the members now saved. The datapoints classified this way can then be used to create alarms by tag.

Save report shows the numbers saved and failed, then lists the datapoints not saved with their component and the associated message. Read this report before Close. An error does not necessarily cancel the other changes: check the current assignments before preparing a new operation.

For a persistent failure, Failed to save tags, Could not remove the tag or a result that cannot be found after reopening, contact support@can-nx.com with the supervision, the tag, the datapoints concerned and the checks already made.
