Boss’nX Auto-tag: assign tags to datapoints automatically

Boss’nXAdministratorInstaller

Boss’nX, building supervision: Component Management page, with the rights to manage components

The Auto-tag button on the Component Management page assigns a tag to the datapoints that do not have one yet, by looking for a match in their label. It is intended for the administrator or installer authorized to manage the supervision’s components. To classify only some datapoints, use targeted tag assignment instead.

  • You have the rights to manage the supervision’s components.
  • A tag describes the datapoint’s function, for example Température de départ (supply temperature) or État marche / arrêt (on/off status). Tags can also be used in the roles’ display and read-only rules: before a global assignment, have the administrator check that they are consistent with your supervision’s rules.
  • To browse the tags and their uses, see the tag catalog.

The operation examines the untagged datapoints of all the supervision’s components shown in this management page. The search filters do not limit Auto-tag to the visible cards: a filter showing a single boiler can therefore come with a counter of several hundred untagged datapoints.

Tags already assigned are kept and datapoints without a match remain untagged. The assignment uses the standard tags offered for this recognition: it does not create custom tags and may leave some datapoints unclassified.

  1. Open Components in the supervision’s navigation bar, or through Menu → Components, and check the Component Management title. See searching for components.
  2. Locate Auto-tag at the top of the page. The number next to it counts the untagged datapoints, not only the datapoints that will receive a match.
  3. Click Auto-tag.
  4. Read the browser’s confirmation: … out of … untagged datapoint(s) will receive an automatic tag (… without match). Continue? Check the three numbers before deciding. This confirmation only appears if at least one datapoint finds a match.
  5. Cancel the dialog to keep the current classification, or accept it to save the proposed matches. The button labels depend on the browser and its language.
  6. During Tagging…, wait for the result.

The confirmation does not let you choose the tags datapoint by datapoint. To classify only some datapoints, cancel this global operation and use targeted tag assignment.

After success, the message … datapoint(s) tagged successfully across … component(s). is shown. The untagged datapoints counter decreases; it may remain above zero because of datapoints without a match. The button disappears when no untagged datapoint remains.

To view the result on a component:

  1. Find its card in Component Management.
  2. Click the Edit component pencil, at the top right of the card.
  3. Check Component name, then find the datapoint by its Label field.
  4. Read the Tag field, below this datapoint’s main settings. Select a tag means that no tag is set.
  5. Leave the fields as they are and go back with the Back arrow, at the top left. Auto-tag has already saved its result: you do not need to save the component again to view it.

Fictitious example: a datapoint named Température départ can receive Température de départ. Check that the tag matches the datapoint’s actual function: the assignment is based on the label, not on a check of the equipment.

After confirmation, this path offers no global undo of the saved tags. If a classification is not suitable or if another user’s display changes, have the datapoint and its role’s rules checked.

All datapoints are already tagged. No untagged datapoint remains to be processed. The relevance of each tag still needs checking.
