Boss’nX: Building organisation page of a supervision, with or without a KNX project
The Building organisation page of Boss’nX describes the supervised building on three levels: building parts, floors and zones. There you create, rename, attach, reorder and delete these spaces manually, without a KNX file. If a KNX project has already been analyzed, the targeted import can also take over its spaces.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Your role has Manage topology, granted in the role capabilities. You work within the scope allowed by this role.
- You are in the supervision of the relevant building. From hypervision, first enter this supervision.
- Manual organization does not need a KNX file. To take over the spaces of an ETS project, that project must first be imported and analyzed.
Open the building organization
Section titled “Open the building organization”- In the supervision, open Menu → Building organisation, in the Integration family. The same content forms the Building step of KNX commissioning.
- Read the header: without an analyzed project, it shows Manual organization. With an available project, Detected elements management also offers the targeted import.
- In Building parts, select a part to show its Floors. Floors without section shows the floors that have no associated part.
- Select a floor to show and manage its Zones. As long as no floor is selected, the list shows Select a floor to manage its zones.
On a wide screen, the three lists are side by side and scroll separately. On a narrower screen, they are stacked: scroll to the section you want.
Changes made in these lists are prepared first. At the bottom of the page, N unsaved change(s) tracks this preparation and Save applies it. The counter does not necessarily match the number of clicks made.
Create a building part, a floor and a zone
Section titled “Create a building part, a floor and a zone”Fictional example: a part Example annex, a floor Example floor and a zone Example reception.
- In Building parts, type the name in New section, then click the blue plus button on the right, Add building part, or press Enter.
- Explicitly select the part you created before adding its floor.
- In Floors, type New floor name, then click the blue plus on the right or press Enter. For a floor without a part, first select Floors without section.
- Select the floor in the list.
- In Zones, type Zone name, then click the blue plus on the right or press Enter.
- Check the names and attachments in the three lists, then click Save at the bottom of the page.
An empty name is rejected. At creation, a name that is already used also blocks the addition:
| Space created | The name must be unique |
|---|---|
| Building part | among the building parts |
| Floor | in the whole supervision |
| Zone | in the same floor |
The comparison ignores capitalization and spaces around the name. Choose names that are easy to identify, including for floors located in different parts.
A greyed-out plus with Outside your access scope means that your role does not allow creation at this location, even if you can see this space. Choose a location where creation is allowed, or have the administrator check this scope.
Create a series of zones
Section titled “Create a series of zones”- Select the destination floor.
- In Zones, open Fast creation.
- Fill in Prefix, From # and To # with a series of increasing integers. Fictional example: Example office, from 1 to 3.
- Review Will create N zone(s), which shows the first and last name. The example prepares Example office 1, Example office 2 and Example office 3.
- Click Create zones only once: the prepared zones appear in the list right away, before they are saved.
- Check the list, then click Save at the bottom of the page.
If a name in the series already exists in this floor, the creation of the whole series is cancelled. Check the existing zones, then adjust the prefix or the range.
Rename, attach and reorder
Section titled “Rename, attach and reorder”| To | Use |
|---|---|
| Rename a part | its Rename pencil |
| Rename a floor or a zone | the Edit pencil |
| Attach a floor to another part | the menu under its name: the part you want or No section assigned |
| Attach a zone to another floor | Select a floor, in its row |
| Change the order of the parts | the Move … up and Move … down arrows, on the right of their row |
| Change the order of the floors in the displayed part or of the zones in the selected floor | the dotted handle on the left: drag the row to the position you want |
For a name, type the text, then confirm with Enter or by leaving the field; Escape abandons the current entry. Confirm the field before the general save.
A zone attached to another floor appears in that floor’s list as soon as it is prepared; saving makes the change effective. Then check the names, attachments and order, and click Save.
Reassign zones without a floor
Section titled “Reassign zones without a floor”Zones without floor (Unassigned) appears at the bottom of the Floors column when there are zones to take over, for example after their floor was deleted. Its counter covers all these zones, whatever part is displayed.
- Click Zones without floor (Unassigned).
- Locate the zone in the list, which is sorted by name.
- In its row, open Select a floor and select the destination floor. If several similar names make the choice uncertain, have the destination confirmed before continuing.
- Select the destination part and floor to find the zone, then click Save and check the result.
This list is only used to take over existing zones: it offers neither zone creation nor drag-and-drop reordering. To add a zone, first select an actual floor.
Delete a building part, a floor or a zone
Section titled “Delete a building part, a floor or a zone”Before deleting, check the space, its children and the associated components. If the space is still in use, have the administrator confirm the consequences on the access, displays and uses concerned. If they remain uncertain, contact support before deleting.
- Click the Delete trash icon of the part, floor or zone.
- In Confirm deletion, read the message and the Impacted components shown. Cancel closes this window without preparing the deletion.
- To confirm the removal, click Delete: the deletion is prepared in the organization. Check the lists, then click Save.
- After saving, check the spaces and the location of the components concerned.
| Deleted space | Announced effect |
|---|---|
| Building part | Its floors are detached from the part. |
| Floor | Its zones are kept in Zones without floor (Unassigned) so that you can reassign them. The message also announces that the associated components are detached. |
| Zone | Its components move to the floor root. |
Check these results after saving, especially if an error message appears. The displayed impact list is not an inventory of all the associated uses.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”After saving, the N unsaved change(s) counter disappears. Then review the three lists: names, attachments and order. After a deletion or a move, also check the location of the components concerned.
The save messages, leaving the page and recovering after a partial failure are covered in the organization save guide.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- As long as nothing is saved, Discard changes abandons the whole preparation. After a successful or partial save, this button does not restore operations that have already been applied.
- If a move or an order remains unexpected after saving, if the counter remains or if a space seems to have disappeared, follow the organization troubleshooting.
If the problem persists, contact support@can-nx.com with the supervision, the spaces concerned, the last action and the messages shown.
