Boss’nX on a computer: Manage detected items, Building organisation page
The Manage detected items selector in Boss’nX adds some of the spaces detected in the KNX project to the building organization, without taking over the whole project. Use it, for example, to import a single new floor while keeping the existing spaces. This procedure prepares Building parts, Floors and Zones.
Intended for administrators and installers with Manage topology. To create the components and their datapoints, then use Structure.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- You work on a computer, in the building supervision. From hypervision, first enter this supervision.
- The KNX project is imported and analyzed. Without an analyzed project, the action may be missing: use manual organization, or go back to the import and its dictionary if the goal requires the KNX project.
- Any manual changes in progress in the organization are saved or discarded.
Open the selector
Section titled “Open the selector”- Open Menu → Building organisation, in the Integration family, or the Building step of KNX commissioning.
- In Detected elements management, click Manage detected items. If this button is greyed out with Save or discard your changes first, first finish the manual changes to the organization.
- In Select items to import, review the items that are already checked. Existing spaces may be preselected, while new ones remain to be chosen.
An empty list does not announce that your building has been deleted.
Select the spaces to add
Section titled “Select the spaces to add”Unchecking an existing space can prepare its deletion. To import a single new floor, do not uncheck everything: keep the existing spaces that must remain present and select only the new floor.
- Search by name or type… helps you find a row and keeps the parents needed to read it.
- Expand all, Collapse all and the section chevrons only change the display.
- Select all adds the visible permitted items to the selection; hidden choices still need to be reviewed in the final preview.
- Locate the new space and its parent. Click its checkbox or its row to select it.
- For a parent row, successive clicks can select the parent with its descendants, keep only the parent, then remove the whole set. Expand the section and check the checkboxes after each click.
- To the right of the selected row, choose Building part, Floor or Zone according to the organization you want. Check that the necessary parents exist or are also planned.
- Keep the choices of the spaces already imported and review all the proposals before moving on to the preview.
The Levels to import chips do not only hide rows: turning off a level removes the selections of that type, including those of existing spaces. Do not turn them off just to look for a new floor.
Preview and apply the changes
Section titled “Preview and apply the changes”- Click Preview changes.
- In Confirm import changes, read the whole list, even if you had used a search. For a simple addition, it should announce only the expected Added as… entries. Check the names and types.
- If an unexpected deletion, type change or name change appears, do not apply. Back reopens the selection: redo the necessary choices, then preview again. Cancel in the selector abandons this preparation.
- If an existing space has a custom name that you must keep, or if you want to convert its type, have the procedure confirmed by support before applying. Do not rely only on the preview’s mention that the name will be kept.
- When the list exactly matches the additions you want, click Apply changes once and wait for Applying… to finish.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”In Building organisation, open the relevant parts and floors to find the saved spaces and check their attachment. Run this check even if the preview closed normally.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- No changes to apply. disables applying. Check whether the spaces are already present or whether the new items have actually been checked. There is no need to change their name to force an operation.
- Partial or uncertain result: additions may have succeeded before an error. Wait for the processing to finish, then check the saved spaces. Do not use Reset topology to start a targeted import over, and do not delete the successful additions.
- Missing addition identified unambiguously: reopen the selector and check that the preview proposes only this addition before retrying.
For saving the organization itself, see saving and troubleshooting the organization. If the result remains undetermined, if a change to existing spaces appears or if you have already retried without success, contact support@can-nx.com with the supervision, the expected spaces, the observed result and the attempts made.
