Delete one or more components from the Boss’nX list

Boss’nXAdministratorInstaller

Boss’nX, Component Management page, with the component management right

On the Boss’nX Component Management page, a card’s trash icon deletes one component, and Deletion mode deletes several at once. The chosen components and their datapoints are removed from the supervision; this path offers no restore button after confirmation.

Intended for administrators and installers who have the component management right in the supervision concerned. For a confirmation that repeats the component’s name, use deletion from the detail instead.

  • If the consequences of the deletion on your configuration are uncertain, contact support before confirming.
  • The zone indicators that use these components may be removed with them.
  1. Open Components in the header bar, or through Menu → Components, to reach Component Management.
  2. Find the components with the search filters.
  3. On a located card, the large title may refer to the zone or the floor. Check the component’s name shown below it and its location before clicking an action.
  1. Click the Delete component trash icon at the top right of the card.
  2. The browser asks Are you sure you want to delete this component? This question does not repeat its name: if in doubt, cancel and check the card again.
  3. Accept to delete the component, or cancel to keep it.
  1. Click Deletion mode at the top of the page.
  2. Check the box at the top left of each card to delete; uncheck it to remove that component from the selection. Use the boxes, avoiding the datapoints’ commands.
  3. To take all the results of the current filters, click Select all. This selection also includes the results further down the page, out of immediate view.
  4. Check the … selected count in the action bar. It counts the complete selection.
  5. To start from scratch, click Deselect all, then rebuild the selection you want.

Changing the filters does not empty the selection: a component that has become invisible may remain selected. After changing a filter, click Deselect all, then select the current results if that is really your intention.

As long as the deletion has not started, Exit deletion mode abandons the selection without deleting any component.

  1. Click Delete selection. This button is unavailable if no component is selected.
  2. Check the number in the browser’s confirmation: Are you sure you want to delete … components? For a selection of a single component, the question uses the singular.
  3. Accept to start the deletion, or cancel to keep the components. The button labels depend on the browser and its language.
  4. During Deleting…, wait for the result. Exiting the mode after confirming does not necessarily cancel the request already sent.
  • Read the … component(s) deleted. message and check that the components concerned have disappeared.
  • Also check their former zone: the indicators using these components may have been removed.
  • Partial deletion: not all the requested components were deleted. The message gives the numbers deleted and rejected; a box lists the items not deleted and the associated messages. The items reported as deleted are removed from the selection. Read this summary, then check the components still present before any new operation.
  • Only an error message, or no clear result: return to the list and look for the components concerned before starting again, as part of the operation may already have succeeded. Do not infer the cause from the error’s wording alone.
  • Deletion mode or trash icons missing: check that you are on Component Management, then have the administrator check your rights. Viewing the list remains possible without these management actions.

For rejections or a deletion whose result remains uncertain, contact support@can-nx.com with the supervision, the names concerned, the message and the checks already made.
