Control a Boss’nX datapoint: two states, option list or pulse
Boss’nXUserAdministratorInstaller
Boss’nX, component detail in a supervision or hypervision: state and option command datapoints
In the detail of a Boss’nX component, a command datapoint appears as two state buttons (for example On and Off), an option list, a grid of buttons or a pulse button with a lightning icon, as for an impulse relay. The command is sent as soon as you choose, after a confirmation if the datapoint requires one.
For users, administrators and installers authorized to control the component. For a setpoint or another numeric value, follow setting a numeric value; for a Run button, follow running a Link’nX action or scenario.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Open the component detail, then locate the right datapoint.
- Your account must be able to control this component: with a regular account, its role needs the Send commands capability (role capabilities). The viewing permission alone does not give access to every command.
- Labels, options and confirmation depend on the site’s configuration.
Choose between two states
Section titled “Choose between two states”- Locate the datapoint’s two buttons, for example On and Off if these labels are configured.
- Click the state you want to request. Each button requests the state shown by its label.
- If Confirmer la commande (confirm the command) appears, choose Envoyer (send) to confirm or Annuler (cancel) to abandon.
- Check the status feedback after the request.
The button color can be customized. Without status feedback, the buttons may remain visually neutral after the command: their appearance then shows neither success nor failure.
A dot followed by a text, with no button, shows a state. This display is not a command button.
Choose an option from a list
Section titled “Choose an option from a list”- On the datapoint row, click the field with a down arrow.
- In the list that opens, select the label you want. The choice requests the command and closes the list.
- Accept the confirmation if one appears.
- Check the result with the available feedback.
To close the list without choosing, click outside it. Scrolling the page or resizing the window also closes it.
A dash — in the selector means that no current option is identified there. When no status feedback is configured for this display, the dash may remain after a command.
Choose an option from a grid of buttons
Section titled “Choose an option from a grid of buttons”Some datapoints show their options directly as buttons: there is no list to open.
- Click the label you want.
- Handle the confirmation if one appears.
- Check the datapoint’s feedback.
Without status feedback, no button is highlighted, even after a successful command. Check the options and the displayed feedback for this datapoint before concluding that the command failed.
Send a pulse
Section titled “Send a pulse”- Locate the button with the lightning icon, whose tooltip is Send a pulse. A custom label may accompany the lightning bolt.
- Click this button once.
- Confirm with Envoyer if the confirmation window appears.
- Wait, then check the status feedback when it is present next to the button.
The dot and the text next to it show the state; they do not trigger the pulse. The button sends the configured pulse, whose effect depends on the hardware and its settings: do not automatically treat it as an On button.
A waiting indicator may temporarily replace the lightning bolt. Avoid repeated clicks: wait for the feedback before deciding on a new action.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”Read the result in the datapoint’s status feedback: dot and text, displayed option or highlighted button. The list closing, the appearance of the buttons or the end of the waiting indicator do not guarantee that the physical state has changed. If the datapoint has no status feedback, check the effect in the installation.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- Buttons missing, inactive or replaced by a simple state: have your control permissions and the datapoint configuration checked.
- Feedback different from the request, or missing: follow command troubleshooting.
- Pulse, labels or send confirmation to configure: the administrator follows the KNX datapoint settings.
If doubt persists, contact support@can-nx.com with the component, the chosen label, the displayed message and the attempts already made.
French labels: Envoyer une impulsion, Envoyer des commandes. Labels configured for states and options remain in the site’s language, and the generic confirmation remains in French in the English interface.
