Chart’nX battery meter: energy and state of charge over KNX or Modbus

Chart’nX: energy dashboard generator, Battery meter card in the main meters

The Battery meter card of the Chart’nX energy generator links two separate measurements of the project’s battery: its energy, in the Energy section, and its state of charge, in the Remaining energy (%) field. Each one is read over KNX or Modbus.

For installers and administrators in charge of the project. The fields shared by all meters are detailed in the meter fields guide.

  • The dashboard is open in the energy generator with Configure.
  • The installer has confirmed the expected measurement for Remaining energy (%) and the unit to use in your interface.
  1. Go to Main meters → Battery meter.
  2. Check that the card corresponds to the project’s battery.
  3. Turn on the switch to the right of the title: the card’s fields appear.

The Energy section contains the KNX or Modbus protocol, the Index or Not indexed choice, the measurement reference and its unit. Fill them in as for the other main meters.

In a three-phase installation, the battery card offers the Per phase block for KNX only. Follow the per-phase measurements guide.

  1. In the Battery specifics section, find the Remaining energy (%) field.
  2. Over KNX, enter the address that provides the state of charge. Over Modbus, choose the matching catalog configuration. The field expects a measurement source, not the observed charge percentage.
  3. Check this reference separately from the one in the Energy section. Reuse an energy measurement for the state of charge only if the installer confirms that it is suitable.

If the expected unit is not offered, do not pick another unit by default: contact support before saving.

  • After a protocol change, review the fields of the Energy and Battery specifics sections: the change affects both.
  • Then save the dashboard.
  • Enabling the card sends no charge or discharge command to the battery.
  • To abandon changes on an existing dashboard, use cancel changes.
  • To control the battery, tell support which management product you use, if the appropriate procedure has not been established yet.

If the expected unit is missing or the setup remains uncertain, write to support@can-nx.com with the dashboard, the field concerned and the choices displayed. A screenshot without sensitive data may be useful.
