Boss’nX role: choose the widgets allowed on the dashboard
Boss’nXAdministratorInstaller
Boss’nX supervision: Users → Roles → Capabilities, Dashboard category, Edit own dashboard
In a Boss’nX role’s capabilities, Allowed widgets limits the widget types its accounts can add and see on the dashboard: alarms, favorites, energy, schema, external link… A fully unticked list allows all types.
Intended for the administrator or installer authorized to edit a role’s capabilities. For other rights, see the role’s capabilities.
Show the widget setting
Section titled “Show the widget setting”- In the relevant supervision, open Menu → Users, Roles tab.
- Click Edit on the role’s row, then choose Capabilities.
- In Dashboard, check Edit own dashboard. The Allowed widgets panel appears when this capability is active, including with All permissions — current and future.
- Scroll the editor down to the widget type checkboxes.
System roles and shared roles whose capabilities are read-only do not allow this change here: have the administrator check the appropriate role.
Limit the dashboard to certain types
Section titled “Limit the dashboard to certain types”Tick only the types to allow among Overview, Building view, Alarms, Favorites, Energy, External link, Schema and Site scene. The counter shows the number of types ticked out of eight.
For example, to allow only Building view and Favorites, tick these two checkboxes and check 2 of 8 types allowed. The choice applies to widget types: it does not individually select a link, a schema or an energy widget.
Types that are not allowed are hidden for this role on the dashboard, in edit mode as in view mode. So check the expected display for the accounts concerned, in addition to what they can add.
Allow all types again
Section titled “Allow all types again”Untick all the checkboxes and check All widget types allowed: a fully unticked list means all types are allowed. To prevent dashboard editing, set the Edit own dashboard capability instead.
Disabling Edit own dashboard hides the selection panel in the editor, but the type choices may be kept: when you re-enable this capability, check the checkboxes you find. The All permissions — current and future mode does not reset this list either.
Save the role
Section titled “Save the role”- Check the checkboxes and the counter, as well as any other sections you changed: saving covers the whole role.
- Click Save, then wait for Role updated and the return to the list.
Discard restores all unsaved changes in the role editor.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”- Reopen the role and check the saved checkboxes.
- Have a user with the role open a new session, then view the Dashboard.
- Check that the widgets displayed match the allowed types and the configuration of this dashboard.
Allowing a type does not create its widgets: they are added by organizing the dashboard. Conversely, hiding a type through the role does not delete the saved widget; re-allowing it makes the widget reappear if its configuration still exists.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Symptom | Action |
|---|---|
| An allowed widget is still missing | Check the account used, its role, the supervision, the allowed types and that the role was saved. Then check that the widget is present and active in the dashboard configuration, with the necessary access to the data it presents. |
| Site scene allowed but missing | This type only shows for an administrator account that has turned it on in Visible widgets, in its dashboard’s edit mode; it is off by default. |
| The Allowed widgets panel does not appear | Enable Edit own dashboard and check that the role’s capabilities are editable. |
Avoid granting all capabilities just to fix a missing widget. If the display remains unexpected, contact support@can-nx.com specifying the role, the widget type, the context and the checks performed.
