# KNX lighting, shutters and blinds with Link’nX: Shelly, Somfy

Link’nX connects lighting, shutters and blinds to the KNX bus in two ways: integrated devices, such as Shelly relays, covers and lights or the shutters and blinds of a Somfy box, and the KNX actions and triggers of scenarios. This page helps you choose the path according to the device and the need.

Each device path starts with its declaration: [a Shelly device](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-shelly-device/) with its IPv4 address and port, or [a Somfy box](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-somfy-devices/) whose discovered devices must be saved.

## Good to know

- Shelly has no dedicated action type or trigger: to use it in a scenario, create a **KNX** action with the address, DPT and value of its mapping.
- Shelly covers: open/close in DPT 1.008, where 0 opens and 1 closes; set position in DPT 5.001, where 0 = open and 100 = closed.
- A Shelly toggle in DPT 1.017 inverts the state on each telegram, including at 0: a button that sends on press and on release can toggle twice. Setting a light’s brightness is not enough to switch it on either.
- For a Gen1 Shelly cover or dimmer, have the path validated by support@can-nx.com before relying on its commands and feedback.
- Somfy: position setpoints are expressed as a percentage from 0 to 100 in DPT 5.001, and a setpoint of 0 is not the **Stop** command. For a standard KNX shutter push button, map **Up / down (KNX button)** in DPT 1.008: **Open** and **Close** only react to the value 1.
- A KNX trigger reacts to a write matching the configured address and value; a simple status read does not trigger it.
