--- title: "Pool’nX options: update via KNX, sending period and KNX watchdog" description: Set in Pool’nX the status sending period, the KNX address that requests a status resend and the KNX watchdog that the gateway sends every minute. canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/pool-options/ language: en product: Pool’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Can’nX Cloud, Pool’nX window: Options window" --- # Pool’nX options: update via KNX, sending period and KNX watchdog Context: Can’nX Cloud, Pool’nX window: Options window The **Options** window of Pool’nX sets when the pool statuses are sent on the KNX bus: periodically, or on request through a group address. It also enables a KNX watchdog, a telegram sent every minute to signal that the gateway is working, and access for a TCP client. Intended for the installer who integrates the pool into a KNX logic or supervision. ## Before you start - The pool is connected and the statuses are mapped: see [the KNX statuses](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/pool-knx-status/). - In ETS, plan the group addresses for the update via KNX and for the watchdog. ## Open the options 1. In the **Pool'nX** window, next to **Options**, click the button with the gear icon. 2. The **Options** window shows four rows, each with a field and a switch: **Update via KNX**, **Automatic update**, **KNX monitoring (watchdog)** and **IP addresses of TCP clients**. 3. After your settings, click **Save**. **Success!** confirms the save; close the window with the cross. ## Request a status resend from KNX 1. In **Update via KNX**, enter a group address, for example **5/7/0** (example). 2. Turn on the switch, then save. Each write telegram received on this address, whatever its value, makes Pool’nX read the controller again and resend the active statuses. Use it, for example, when a visualization or a logic starts. To stop using this function, clear the address and save. ## Set the sending period 1. In **Automatic update**, enter the period in minutes, in the field followed by **mins.** The default value is **10**. 2. Leave the switch on, then save. Pool’nX then reads the controller again and sends the active statuses at this interval. Enter a whole number greater than 0. ## Enable the KNX watchdog 1. In **KNX monitoring (watchdog)**, enter a group address, for example **5/7/1** (example). 2. Turn on the switch, then save. Pool’nX writes the value 1, in DPT 1.001, to this address as soon as you save, then every minute. In the KNX logic or supervision, trigger an alarm when no telegram arrives for several minutes. ## Allow a TCP client **IP addresses of TCP clients** allows a supervisor or a PLC to read the statuses and send commands over TCP. The procedure and the message format are in [the TCP client guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/pool-tcp-client/). ## Check the result 1. Reopen **Options**: the addresses, the period and the switches are kept. 2. In the ETS group monitor, check that a telegram arrives every minute on the watchdog address. 3. Write a value to the update via KNX address and check that the active statuses are sent again. ## Troubleshooting | Symptom | Cause and action | | --- | --- | | No watchdog telegram | Switch off, address missing or options not saved. Also check that the gateway is **Online**. | | No resend after a telegram on the update address | Check the address entered and the one used by the sender, and that statuses are ticked **Active** with an address. A read request does not trigger sending. | | Statuses too rare or too frequent | Adjust **Automatic update** and save. | See also [Pool’nX troubleshooting](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/pool-help/). French labels: **Options**, **Mise à jour via KNX**, **Mise à jour automatique**, **Surveillance KNX (watchdog)**, **Adresse IP du client TCP**, **Enregistrer**.
