--- title: Declare a Sonos speaker in Link’nX with its IP address description: Add a Sonos speaker to Link’nX with its name and IPv4 address, then edit or delete its declaration from the list of Sonos devices. canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-sonos-device/ language: en product: Link’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Link’nX web: Sonos list and device declaration form" --- # Declare a Sonos speaker in Link’nX with its IP address Context: Link’nX web: Sonos list and device declaration form Declare a Sonos speaker in Link’nX with a name and its IPv4 address. The declared device can then be controlled from a scenario or from the KNX bus, and its declaration edited or deleted from the **Sonos** list. Intended for installers and administrators. ## Before you start - Note the speaker’s IPv4 address. Ask the installer for it if you do not know it. - The Sonos option is available in your context. If it is not, contact support. ## Declare the speaker 1. Check the project and the gateway displayed, then open **Sonos** in the equipment navigation. The [navigation guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-navigation/) explains how to access the cards and the mobile menu. 2. In the **Sonos** list, click **Add**. The **Sonos device declaration** form opens. 3. Fill in **Name**, required, **64 characters** maximum, for example the fictitious name **Living room speaker**. 4. Fill in **IP address** with the device’s IPv4 address: four numbers from 0 to 255 separated by dots. The field expects an address, without protocol, port or path, and not a host name. 5. Click the round button with a **floppy disk at the bottom right**. If this button is disabled, check the name and the address format. 6. Wait for **Success!**. The form has no Sonos password field. ## Check the result Check **Name** and **IP address** in the list. An empty list means that no declaration is shown in this context: Link’nX does not search for devices on the network automatically. Saving the address confirms neither a connection nor actual playback. Then test a command from a scenario action or from the KNX bus and listen to the speaker. ## Control the declared speaker - From the KNX bus: on the device row, the two opposite horizontal arrows, **Gateway mode configuration**, open the [Sonos mappings with KNX](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-sonos-gateway/). - From a scenario: prepare a command with the [Sonos actions](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-sonos-action/). ## Edit the declaration Click the **Edit** pencil of the row. In **Sonos device modification**, correct the fields, use the floppy disk and wait for **Updated!**. Then check the row. ## Delete the declaration 1. First check the actions that use the device: the deletion confirmation does not show the list of scenarios concerned. 2. Click the **Delete** trash can, then reread **Delete item name?** in the browser confirmation. Canceling keeps the device; confirming requests its deletion. 3. After **Deleted!**, check that the row has disappeared. No restore button is offered. Removing the declaration does not restore the previous audio state of the device. ## Troubleshooting - The floppy disk stays disabled: check the name and the IPv4 format of the address. - The Sonos entry is missing or unavailable: check the project and the gateway, then the Sonos option of your context. - For other symptoms, follow the [Sonos troubleshooting guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-sonos-help/). ## Contact support If the correct address is still rejected, if a declaration is not confirmed or if you deleted a device by mistake, write to support@can-nx.com with the context, the device name, the message and the steps already tried.
