--- title: Filter the ETS group addresses offered in Link’nX description: Choose the ETS group addresses that Link’nX offers in KNX configurations and in the action generator, then download the selection as a JSON file. canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-knx-filter/ language: en product: Link’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Link’nX web: KNX card, KNX Configuration, filter of an uploaded ETS file" --- # Filter the ETS group addresses offered in Link’nX Context: Link’nX web: KNX card, KNX Configuration, filter of an uploaded ETS file The Link’nX ETS filter keeps part of the group addresses of the uploaded ETS file. A non-empty selection can limit the addresses offered for KNX configurations and in the [ETS action generator](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-action-generate/). The filter does not delete any address from the ETS project. Intended for installers and administrators whose Link’nX context has an [uploaded ETS file](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-knx-file/). ## Open the filter 1. Open **KNX** in the navigation. 2. In **KNX Configuration**, click the **Filter** funnel icon, to the right of the file row. 3. The **Group address filter** page is displayed. A previously saved selection is restored when it still matches the addresses of the file. ## Select the group addresses 1. Expand a main group, then a subgroup, with the arrow in their header. 2. Check the addresses you want. A subgroup’s checkbox selects its addresses; the main group’s checkbox selects the addresses of its subgroups. A partially checked box indicates a partial selection. 3. To find an address, use **KNX group address**. Fictitious examples: **1** shows main group 1, **1/2** its subgroup 2, **1/2/3** this full address. This field searches the address, not the name. 4. Clear the search and check the whole selection. The search and collapsing a group do not uncheck hidden addresses, and checking a group can also select its hidden addresses. To include all available addresses, check each main group, then check the boxes. Do not save an empty selection in order to block all KNX traffic: the filter does not provide for this operation. ## Save the selection 1. Click **Filter the selected group addresses**, at the bottom of the page. 2. The browser confirmation asks **Are you sure to filter only these addresses?** Confirm to request the save, or cancel to return to the selection. 3. Wait for **Success!**. ## Download a copy of the selection 1. Go back to **KNX**, on the **KNX Configuration** page. 2. Click the downward arrow **Download the filtered ETS configuration**, to the right of the row. 3. The browser downloads **filtered-ets-configuration.json**, which contains the saved selection. This JSON file is separate from the XML export to upload with **Upload a file**: do not choose it in that picker. It may contain the names and addresses of your installation; keep it in an appropriate location. The download is grayed out when no matching KNX configuration is available. ## Check the result After **Success!**, open **KNX** again from the navigation, then **Filter**, and check the saved boxes. Then check the addresses offered in your KNX configurations or in the action generator. ## Troubleshooting - Empty address list: clear **KNX group address**, check the context, then the file displayed in **KNX Configuration**. - Download grayed out right after defining the filter: first check the success message and the restored boxes by reopening **Filter**. - Search with no result or generator offering too few addresses: see the [ETS files and filters FAQ](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-knx-help/). If the expected file is present but the addresses remain absent, if the selection is not kept or if the download remains unavailable, contact support@can-nx.com with the context, the file name, the symptom and the steps already taken.
