# Auto-fill the KNX addresses of a Link’nX gateway table

The **Auto-fill KNX addresses** button assigns consecutive group addresses to all the rows of a tab in the [KNX gateway table](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-gateway-table/), starting from a start address. It works for Sonos, Airzone and any other device that uses this table.

Intended for installers and administrators. The operation replaces the addresses of **all rows of the current tab**, including hidden and inactive rows. Use it only if this sequence of addresses is planned in the KNX project.

## Prepare the tab and the start address

1. Open the tab to configure.
2. Clear **Type to filter...** and uncheck **Show only active** to see all the rows.
3. Count the rows to number.
4. Choose a valid start address: main group from 0 to 31, middle group from 0 to 7, and a last level that stays at **255 maximum** after all the rows. Only the last level increases: there is no automatic carry-over to the next group.

## Run the fill

1. Click **Auto-fill KNX addresses**. Reread **Warning: this operation will overwrite all KNX addresses in the table.**
2. In **KNX start address**, enter the three-level address. Fictitious example: **1/2/10** produces **1/2/10**, **1/2/11**, **1/2/12**, etc., in table order. **Cancel** closes the window without applying the fill.
3. Click **Confirm**. After **KNX addresses updated!**, the modified fields are briefly highlighted.

## Activate the rows and save

The fill does not choose the functions to activate.

1. Check the **Active** boxes of the rows to use.
2. Click the **floppy disk at the bottom right**.
3. Wait for **Données sauvegardées avec succès !** (Data saved successfully!) before switching tabs.

## Check the result

Reread each row, the last address assigned and any conflicts with the other associations of your project. To check the save, then reopen the gateway from the device list and reread the addresses.

## Troubleshooting

- The window closes without filling the fields: check that the address contains exactly three numbers separated by slashes.
- **Fill stopped: N of T rows set. The group address would go past 255.**: only the first N rows received an address, the following ones were not changed. Start again with a lower start address or complete these rows one by one.
- Sequence to correct before saving: fill in the **Address** fields individually or redo the fill with a checked start address. No button undoes the fill as a whole.

If a wrong sequence has already been saved, if the old addresses are no longer known or if the address space is insufficient, contact support@can-nx.com. Do not infer the old values from neighboring addresses and do not reuse an occupied range.
