--- title: Create, edit or delete a Link’nX scenario folder description: "Organize Link’nX scenarios in folders: create one, change its name, color and icon, then delete a folder while moving its scenarios so none are lost." canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-folders/ language: en product: Link’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Link’nX web: Scenarios page, folder windows in English even in the French interface" --- # Create, edit or delete a Link’nX scenario folder Context: Link’nX web: Scenarios page, folder windows in English even in the French interface On the Link’nX **Scenarios** page, folders group scenarios under a name, a color and an icon; they appear among the filters and as headers in the list. Deleting a folder does not delete its scenarios: you choose where to move them. Intended for administrators and installers. First check [the project and the gateway](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-access/): folders organize the scenarios of this context. The folder windows keep English labels, even in the French interface. ## Create a folder 1. In the filter area of **Scenarios**, click **New folder**. This area is on the left on a wide screen and above the list on a narrower screen. 2. In the **New folder** window, fill in **New folder name**: a name is required, with a maximum of 64 characters, for example “Floor lighting”. 3. Choose a swatch in **Color**, then an icon in **Icon**, or keep the suggested choices. 4. Click **Create** and wait for **Success!**. **Cancel** discards the form. To file scenarios in the new folder, follow [Move scenarios](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-move-scenarios/). ## Change the name, color or icon 1. In the scenario list, locate the folder’s header and click its **Edit** pencil. 2. The **Edit folder** window shows the same information; the name field is also labeled **Edit folder**. 3. Click **Save** and wait for **Updated!**. **Cancel** keeps the previous information. The header only appears when the folder contains visible scenarios. If the search hides it, use [Reset in the list](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-lists/). An empty folder has no header and this procedure presents no other editing command: contact support if you need to rename it. ## Delete a folder Locate the folder’s **Delete** trash can in the side filters on a wide screen, or in its header when it contains visible scenarios. If the search hides this header, use **Reset**. - For an empty folder, a browser confirmation shows **Delete folder "name"?**. Confirm only for the intended folder, otherwise cancel. - For a folder containing scenarios, the **Delete folder "name"** window shows how many there are and asks for their destination. | Option | Destination of the scenarios | | --- | --- | | **Leave uncategorized** | They move to **Uncategorized**. | | **Move to existing folder** | Offered when another folder exists: choose it in **Target folder**. | | **Move to a new folder** | New folder fields open: fill in the name, color and icon, then click **Create** in these fields before the final confirmation. | Check the destination, then click **Delete folder**. The button stays unavailable until the destination folder is chosen or created. **Cancel** cancels the request. The scenarios are moved to the chosen destination, then the folder is removed; they are not deleted. Confirmed operations are saved as you go; closing the page does not undo them. No button undoes a folder deletion: to revert a filing, move the scenarios to the desired folder. ## Check the result - After a creation or a change, the folder appears among the filters with its name, color and icon. - After **Deleted!**, check the destination folder or **Uncategorized**: the moved scenarios should be there. ## Troubleshooting If creation or deletion does not give the expected result, check the folder list and the location of the scenarios before repeating the operation. Part of the operation may already have been carried out: deletion moves the scenarios first and then removes the folder, and with **Move to a new folder** the new folder is created first. If the state remains uncertain, contact support@can-nx.com with the folder, the chosen destination, the message displayed and the steps already taken.
