--- title: Limit a Link’nX scenario to specific date ranges description: Restrict a Link’nX scenario to dated periods such as vacations or an exceptional closure, or exclude them, with several date ranges in one condition. canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-condition-dates/ language: en product: Link’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Link’nX web: Date range condition without yearly recurrence, scenario Date condition field" --- # Limit a Link’nX scenario to specific date ranges Context: Link’nX web: Date range condition without yearly recurrence, scenario Date condition field The **Date range** condition in Link’nX can contain several date ranges, with their year, and apply the rule inside or outside them: a vacation period, an exceptional closure or a season in a given year. Intended for administrators and installers. For the same periods every year, use the [yearly recurrence guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-condition-annual/). ## Create the date ranges 1. In **Conditions**, click **Add**, then choose **Date range** in **Select a condition type**. Fill in **Name**. 2. Leave **Recurring yearly** turned off. 3. In **Date ranges**, click **Choose a date range** or its calendar icon. Choose the start date, then the end date in the calendar. Check both dates and their years in the row. 4. For another period, click **Add a date range**, then fill in the new row the same way. Each row kept must have a start and an end. 5. To remove a row, click **Remove this date range** next to it. This command is offered when several rows remain; it removes the row from the form directly. To replace the only remaining range, change its dates. Removing a row does not change the saved condition until you save the form; after saving, this period is no longer part of its list. ## Apply the rule inside or outside the ranges Several ranges are alternatives: the date can match any one of them. The **Active outside ranges** switch inverts this result for all the ranges. | **Active outside ranges** | The condition is met | Summary sentence below the ranges | | --- | --- | --- | | Off | When the date falls within one of the ranges | “Active when current date is within” followed by the ranges | | On | Only outside all the ranges | “Active when current date is **NOT** within” followed by the ranges | ## Save and add the condition to the scenario 1. Click the floppy disk, then follow the [save confirmations](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-condition-edit/). 2. In the scenario, select the condition in **Date condition**, then save the scenario too. ## Check the result - Review the summary sentence below the ranges, especially the word **NOT** when exclusion is active. - Reopen the condition and check the years and the order of the dates in each row. - Before relying on the exact time of entering or leaving a range, especially to cover the whole day of the end date, have support confirm the bounds suited to your installation. The display of a date does not show an end time. ## Troubleshooting - **Issue with field 'Date range'. It requires a value.**: complete the start and end of each row, or remove the added rows that are not used. Check that a complete range remains defined: a start date alone is not enough. - The condition seems not to apply: check the years, the order of the dates, **Active outside ranges** and the selection in the scenario. - You want to switch to yearly mode: use the conversion procedure in the [yearly recurrence guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/link-condition-annual/) before saving. If the problem persists, contact support@can-nx.com with the desired dates, the test date, the inside or outside mode and the expected result.
