--- title: Set up Emergy’nX equipment characteristics for each equipment type description: "DHW, pool, heating, heat pump, ventilation, lighting, photovoltaic: the fields, units and measurements to fill in for each Emergy’nX equipment type." canonical: https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-equipment-types/ language: en product: Emergy’nX audience: - administrateur - installateur context: "Emergy’nX: General tab of equipment, when creating or editing it in the Equipment section" --- # Set up Emergy’nX equipment characteristics for each equipment type Context: Emergy’nX: General tab of equipment, when creating or editing it in the Equipment section The **General** tab of an Emergy’nX equipment item changes with the chosen type: domestic hot water (DHW), pool, heating, air conditioning, pool heat pump, ventilation, lighting, photovoltaic or wind production, EV charger. The tables below give, for each type, the fields to fill in, their units and the additional measurements offered in **Monitoring**. Intended for the installer or administrator, in **Equipment → Add Equipment → General**, or in **Edit** for existing equipment. For saving and reviewing, follow the [create, edit or duplicate equipment](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-equipment-create/) guide. ## Fill in the common fields - **Name**: a clear name. - **Phase type**: **Single Phase** or **Three Phase**, according to the installation. - **Max Power (kW)**: required and non-negative for DHW, pool, pool heat pump, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, CFA and custom equipment. - **Average operating power (kW)**: optional; if you fill it in, it must be strictly greater than zero. Use the values established for the device, without replacing an unknown value with zero to pass validation. Decimal fields accept a point or a comma. ## Complete the type-specific fields | Displayed equipment type | Specific fields to check | | --- | --- | | **DHW (Domestic Hot Water)** | **DHW Type**: **Electric**, **Thermodynamic** or **Solar**; **Default Setpoint**. | | **Pool** | **Pool Type**: **Klereo**, **PoolCop** or **Other**; **Pump Speeds**: 1 or 3; **Default Setpoint**. | | **Heater**, **Cooler**, **Pool Heat Pump** | **PCE**, **PCH** or **VRV** choice (electric underfloor heating, hydronic underfloor heating, variable refrigerant volume) in the corresponding type field; these abbreviations stay in French in the English interface. **Has KNX thermostat?** with Yes/No; **Default Setpoint**. Have the choice that matches your hardware confirmed if you do not know it. | | **Ventilation (VMC)** | **Speed Number**: 1, 2 or 3, depending on the equipment. | | **CFA (Thermodynamic DHW)** | **Thermodynamic** or **Solar** choice; **Default Setpoint**. | | **Lighting** | **Maximum Intensity (A)**, optional and non-negative. This form presents a maximum intensity, with no maximum power field. | | **Other (Custom)** | **Custom Icon**, required, to select from the list. The choices are displayed in English, for example **Appliance**, **IT / Server** or **Other**. | | **Production (PV)** | **Photovoltaic** or **Wind** choice, then the production parameters described below. | | **EVCP (EV Charger)** | Charger model, intensities, connection and optimization: follow the [IRVE guide](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-evcp-config/). | The **Default Setpoint** must match the quantity and scale planned for this equipment. If its unit or meaning has not been established, have it confirmed by the person responsible for the installation rather than using an assumed temperature or speed. ## Fill in a production installation In **General**, the production form shows: - **Peak power production (kWc)** and **Installation Dimension (m2)**: optional values, non-negative when filled in; - **Power Efficiency (0-1)**: a fraction between 0 and 1. For example, 20% is written 0.2 (a conversion example, not an efficiency recommendation); - **Adjustment Factor**: optional non-negative value; - **Panel Inclination (deg)** and **Panel Azimuth (deg)**: angles in degrees, according to the validated data of the installation. If a parameter does not match your installation or if the azimuth convention is unknown, ask the person responsible for the installation or support for confirmation rather than choosing a value at random. ## Map the measurements and commands After **General**, open **Monitoring**, then **Enable monitoring** if necessary. The forms offer **Active Power** and **Intensity**; some families add measurements: | Family | Additional measurements displayed | | --- | --- | | Pool | **Water Temperature** | | Heating, air conditioning, pool heat pump | **Outdoor Temperature**, **Indoor Temperature** | | Ventilation | **Hygrometry** | | CFA | **Tank Temperature** | Fill in only the measurements available for this equipment. For each measurement used, map its group address and DPT with the [KNX procedure](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-equipment-knx/), which also explains the commands in the **Control** tab. ## Check the result After **Save**, check the measurements and the expected behavior on the [dashboard](https://wiki.can-nx.com/en/guides/emergy-dashboard/): that is where the hardware is confirmed to work. ## Troubleshooting - An expected field does not appear: the available characteristics and measurements depend on the chosen family. Check the **Equipment Type** at the top of **General** before looking for a field. - A required field stays in error: check in particular the maximum power on loads (**Power max is required**), the icon for **Other (Custom)** (**Icon is required**) and the fields specific to chargers. Correct the indicated section, then click **Save**. If saving still fails, contact support@can-nx.com with the type, the field and the displayed message. French labels: tabs **Général**, **Surveillance**, **Pilotage**; power fields **Puissance max (kW)** and **Puissance moyenne de fonctionnement (kW)**.
